Purchasing performance information

Whenever a torsional analysis is performed, a Campbell diagram shall be furnished to the purchaser for information only. 

Data include a list of primary and alternative vendors and prior purchase history information along with vendor performance. 

Refrain from purchasing any chemical reactor without reviewing certified independent test data on its performance under a similar application. Request the manufacturer to provide performance information and design... 

Tray design varies with each particular manufacturer, and the design details are usually proprietary. Performance information is available directly from the manufacturers (Koch-Glitsch, Nutter), some of whom provide detailed design for a given set of specifications as part of the purchase. A few features of the more commonly used types of tray vapor openings are summarized below. Figure 14.4 is a schematic of three types. 

At times you ll find that the information is the same, but the presentation of the curves is different. Almo-St all pump companies publish what are called the family of curves . The pump family curves are probably the most useful for the maintenance engineer and mechanic, the design engineer and purchasing agent. The family curves present the entire performance picture of a pump. 

There are also two notable research institutes offering information that may assist the engineer in making out the specification sheets. One of these is the Heat Transfer Research Institute (HTRI). Its staff performs tests to optimize the design of heat-transfer equipment. This information is then encoded in computer programs, which are distributed to the companies that support the research. This means that the engineer s company must purchase a membership to obtain these data. The Fractionation Research Institute (FRI) is a similar institution that deals with the separation processes. 

The sponsoring firm was not identified. The survey comprised three sections. The first recorded the identity of and purchasing data for the respondent s top two metal products vendors. The second section collected vendor performance ratings at the level of each performance attribute and overall vendor performance. The third section collected demographic information on the respondent firms. 

At the fourth stage the laboratory develops the purchasing activities, i.e. it defines the purchasing processes, eoUeets purchasing information and verifies the purehased products. The fifth step is to define the system of performing the laboratory activity, validate sueh aetivities, keep records and trace baek to raw data. The laboratory instnrments must be calibrated and always be monitored for their proper operation. 

The information in this chapter applies specifically to the first element sample preparation. The sample preparation steps are usually the most tedious and labor-intensive part of an analysis. By automating the sample preparation, a significant improvement in efficiency can be achieved. It is important to make sure that (1) suitable instrument qualification has been concluded successfully before initiation of automated sample preparation validation [2], (2) the operational reliability of the automated workstation is acceptable, (3) the analyte measurement procedure has been optimized (e.g., LC run conditions), and (4) appropriate training in use of the instrument has been provided to the operator(s). The equipment used to perform automated sample preparation can be purchased as off-the-shelf units that are precustomized, or it can be built by the laboratory in conjunction with a vendor (custom-designed system). Off-the-shelf workstations for fully automated dissolution testing, automated assay, and content uniformity testing are available from a variety of suppliers, such as Zymark (www.zymark.com) and Sotax (www.sotax.com). These workstations are very well represented in the pharmaceutical industry and are all based on the same functional requirements and basic principles. 

Wash performance is crucial for the consumer. Stain removal, anti-graying, and color stability with no dye transfer are all important, as these are visible parameters that inform the next purchase choice. Less visible is scale inhibition to protect the machine. The laundry market is highly competitive, so that although chelants are only a small part of the formulation, purchasers want to keep the cost of this part of a package to a minimum. As a result, they are generally only willing to pay a small premium for biodegradability of alternative chelants... 

Where the organization or its customer intends to perform verihcation at the supplier premises, the organization states the intended verihcation arrangements and method of product release in the purchasing information. 

The Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set (HED IS) is a health care report card created by NCQA. HEDIS standardizes health plan performance data and disseminates this information so that plans can be compared (O Malley, 1997). This allows health care purchasers and consumers to make informed choices (O Malley, 1997). HEDIS s performance domains include effectiveness of care, access and availability of care, health plan stability, use of services, cost of care, informed health care choices, satisfaction with the experience of care, and health plan descriptive information.
