Project Team Organization

The size of the project team depends on the particular tasks that are to be performed and the hazards that may be encountered. Keep in mind that a wide variety of disciplines may not be required for every project. During the early stages of planning, an organizational chart should be developed. This chart can serve to visually depict the following  [Pg.31]

The organizational chart further identifies key positions in the project team, including the project director, project manager, site safety and health officer (SSHO), site supervisor, emergency response coordinator, site security, and other specialized positions. [Pg.31]

It is common practice for the same person to wear many hats for smaller, less complicated sites. One person could conceivably have the responsibility for the following jobs  [Pg.32]

The project team organization. This will help to identify key individuals and alternates, roles and responsibilities, and other on-site and off-site resources. [Pg.31]

HAZWOPER specifically requires that project personnel and responsibilities be well defined. Refer to our discussion on project team organization in Chapter 3. [Pg.77]

The project team organization, referred to in item 2 of the plan, varies according to the size, complexity, and scope of the project. Smaller projects are best handled by a small team of all-rounders working full-time, rather than a multitude of part-time specialists less communication and better teamwork more than compensate for any lack of more... [Pg.27]

Often in industrial use of traditional scheduling the detailed WBS describes a mix of these concepts some parts of the WBS in a master schedule are product centric while other parts are phase or team (functional) centric. In those cases the mapping of scheduled activities to the product, governing process, or project team organization can be unclear. [Pg.199]

Project management is a business process in the project-oriented company. It starts with the project assignment and ends with the project approval. The project life cycle is divided into the sub-processes of project start, project control and project close-down. At the same time project coordination and project marketing are carried out continuously. Another possible sub-process is project crisis resolution, which is not discussed in this paper. At the end of each phase the project owner and the project team organize a milestone review and decide whether the next phase can be started or not. Those reviews reduce the technical risk fi om the management perspective. [Pg.72]

Establishing overall and specific organizational roles and responsibilities of different functions and disciplines by defining individual roles, responsibilities, accountabilities, and interfaces in the project team with matrix personnel and organizations, and between contractors and subcontractors. [Pg.28]

Often, the IT life cycle planning today is cost-, project-, reaction-, or necessity-based rather than being based on a well-maintained masterplan. This is not necessarily bad. Projects are sponsored by the local department. Hence project teams are closer to where the needs and record keeping rules are defined. However, the project teams need to understand the technology directions of the larger organization to ensure that the proper infrastructure is in place to support the production system. [Pg.1062]

Most contract research organizations and pharmaceutical companies are organized in a matrix management structure. This structure is called a matrix because there are project teams that span various functional departments. It may help to visualize the relationship like this ... [Pg.9]

The challenge of wicked problems is exacerbated by social complexity - the number and diversity of stakeholders in the problem-solving process. Social complexity means that the environment of a project team is populated by individuals, other project teams, and other organizations that have the power to undermine the project if their stake is not considered - or if they are not at least included in the thinking and decision-making process [19]. [Pg.294]

Effective personal communication is required between owner and contractor organizations and their project team representatives, ensuring extensive site and manufacturing input. [Pg.44]

The presentation phase The VIP team formally presents the profitability recommendations consistent with the objectives and constraints of the workshop and their implementation plans to the steering committee or the project management team. The steering committee then approves those recommendations that pass muster and authorizes the project team to begin the implementation effort. Often, this approval is conditional on early validation by subject matter experts within the project owner s organization, but not present within the workshop. This external feasibility check is meant to provide support to the project team for any additional resources and schedule time needed to fully incorporate the improvements into the project scope of work. [Pg.53]

The tasks that confront a project leader and the project team will be affected by the type of project thqr are undertaking and its status within the organization. Wendy Briner and colleagues from Ashridge Management College... [Pg.194]

About one month before the finalization of the previous phase, when the integration task forces had done most of their work but HR was still in the process of finalizing the last appointments, the integration task forces were renamed as project teams and refocused on developing improvement plans (Fig. 26.2). Some of these project teams differed slightly from the integration task forces, to reflect the new organization and appointments. [Pg.351]

In a matrix organization, part of your work will be in a function such as chemistry, engineering or production. The other part will be in project teams - getting new things done. You will... [Pg.14]
