Project Inform

The U.S. government, a primary sponsor of scientific and technological developments that fostered the computer and communications technologies needed by the on-line database industry, also sponsored database development projects, information usage studies, and combined computer database development—usage projects. The successors of some of these projects continue to be prominent and include DIALOG, MEDLINE, BRS, LEXIS, and the Chemical Abstracts Registry System. [Pg.113]

Early in the life of a project, information has not been developed to allow definitive cost estimates based on material takeoff and vendor quotes for equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate the cost of a facility using shortcut methods. The first step is to develop or check flow-sheets, major equipment sizes, and specification sheets as described in earlier chapters. From the equipment specification sheets, the cost of each piece of equipment is estimated, using techniques discussed later. Once the major equipment cost has been estimated, the total battery limit plant cost can he quickly estimated using factors developed on a similar project. [Pg.230]

As shown in Figure 1.5 and described in Section 1.4, the design and engineering of a chemical process requires the co-operation of many specialist groups. Effective cooperation depends on effective communications, and all design organisations have formal procedures for handling project information and documentation. The project documentation will include ... [Pg.10]

The computer model can be part of an integrated project information system, covering all aspects of the project from conception to operation. [Pg.899]

From the 323 projects in U.S. EPA s MTBE Treatment Profiles dataset, 85 projects were identified where MTBE in groundwater was remediated using pump-and-treat along with 15 additional projects that treated MTBE in drinking water (collectively referred to as pump-and-treat projects). Information on the treatment of other oxygenates was reported for 20 of these 100 projects 16 projects reported TBA, 6 projects reported TAME, 2 projects reported ethanol, and 1 project reported DIPE as a contaminant in addition to MTBE. [Pg.1031]

The database provides project profiles that include site background information (e.g., site type, climate, and precipitation), project information (e.g., purpose, scale, and status), cover information (e.g., design, vegetation, and installation), performance and cost information, points of contact, and references. Table 25.5 provides a summary of key information from the database for 34 recent projects with monolithic ET or capillary barrier ET covers.15... [Pg.1082]

Three main research projects informed this book. Full ethical approval from the University of Glasgow was received for each of these studies. Participants were assured confidentiality within the confines of the Children s Act (1995) Scotland. All interviews were taped and fully transcribed with the consent of the participant. Most of the interviews took about an hour and most of those with relatives were carried out in their homes. These studies are described below whilst also providing an outline of the book s contents. [Pg.21]

Validation plans should include a high-level project schedule that includes the identification of resources. As further project information is known, additional elements can be incorporated to the validation and project schedule process. Figure 8-12 depicts a typical systems development distribution showing the percentage of effort needed for each key developmental activity. [Pg.49]

The selection of whose software program to use depends entirely on which membrane manufacturer is specified by the customer. Each RO system designer may have a favorite program that they use to provide projection information should the membranes of choice not be specified. In most cases, it makes sense to run several programs and compare/contrast the differences among them to find which membrane performance meets the requirements of the specific application. [Pg.214]

The Project Information screen is accessed by the menu under "Tools—Input," or the "INF" button at the top of the main screen. Project name, designer name, and the number of passes (along with recycle and booster pump, if required) are entered into this screen. [Pg.231]

Pollution prevention cannot be adequately implemented or monitored for effectiveness unless facility operators and regulators know what is being released from the facility and its origin. Therefore one of the study team s first tasks was to assemble a detailed inventory of releases from the refinery. At the start of the project, information on all of the refinery s release sources was not available. This was understandable, considering that complex industrial sources such as the refinery contain hundreds, sometimes thousands, of potential release points. It is technically difficult and impractical to monitor and measure each of these points. [Pg.337]

The project scope and exeeution responsibility can also be split into several contracts to be aw arded gradually as the project information and design develop, i.e., engineering, civil work, mechanical work, etc. This approach imposes a heavy load on the Owner s Project Manager and is suitable for small projects only. [Pg.140]

Most of the algorithms important to the field of charged soft matter have been implemented in the open source program package ESPResSo. We have given a short introduction into the use of ESPResSo, as well as some implementation details. Of course, our hope is that the some of the readers consider ESPResSo as the simulation code base for their next projects. Informations regarding the latest version, or informations on how to participate in the further development of this package can be found on http //www.espresso.mpg.de/. [Pg.218]
