Equipment specification sheets

Early in the life of a project, information has not been developed to allow definitive cost estimates based on material takeoff and vendor quotes for equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate the cost of a facility using shortcut methods. The first step is to develop or check flow-sheets, major equipment sizes, and specification sheets as described in earlier chapters. From the equipment specification sheets, the cost of each piece of equipment is estimated, using techniques discussed later. Once the major equipment cost has been estimated, the total battery limit plant cost can he quickly estimated using factors developed on a similar project. [Pg.230]

FLOSHEET is part of a suite of programs called PROCEDE which has been developed for the efficient handling of all the information needed in process design. It aims to cover the complete process environment, using graphical user interfaces to facilitate the transfer of information, Preece et al. (1991). The first step in the procedure is to define the purpose, objectives, and scope of the study. The more precisely this is done, the more focused and relevant the committee discussions can be. The next step is to collect all relevant information on the process under consideration. This includes flow diagrams, process equipment specifications, nominal flows, etc. The procedure is highly dependent on the reflabiUty of this information. Efforts expended here are worthwhile. Many committees use the flow sheet as the central stmcture to organize thek discussions. [Pg.471]

As an example of this technique, the estimated equipment costs for a large coal gasification project have been correlated and programmed for a computer. Thus, it is vei7 easy to get the cost of any one piece, or of many pieces of equipment, for a coal gasification or hydrocarbon processing project once the specification sheets are completed. [Pg.232]

There are also two notable research institutes offering information that may assist the engineer in making out the specification sheets. One of these is the Heat Transfer Research Institute (HTRI). Its staff performs tests to optimize the design of heat-transfer equipment. This information is then encoded in computer programs, which are distributed to the companies that support the research. This means that the engineer s company must purchase a membership to obtain these data. The Fractionation Research Institute (FRI) is a similar institution that deals with the separation processes. [Pg.357]

Begin by cross-referencing obvious relationships. Perhaps SOPs can be linked directly to specifications, or equipment setup sheets in the batch record can be linked to the asset numbers of equipment. The most obvious relationship will be the easiest to start with. [Pg.341]
