Project execution

In the following sections, the phases of execution mentioned above shall be treated as chronologically as possible. However, there is no importance attached to a complete representation of all thinkable design activities. The aim is rather to convey, with the help of examples, principal procedures repeatedly occurring in the process-engineering practice. Special emphasis is placed on the strongly interdisciplinary character and the team capabUity within the framework of the project execution. 

The scope or complexity of detail engineering activities depends, as shown in Chapter 1, section 1.2, Project , basically on the kind and scope of the project.

Implementing an inherent safety review process is one mechanism companies can use to institutionalize inherent safety. The review process should integrate well with company systems for process safety management, new product development, and project execution. Safety, health, and environmental considerations in the new product or process development effort can be strengthened via the introduction of the inherent safety review. Companies may also build inherently safer design concepts into their existing process safety management system and process hazard reviews. 

Shortly after the start-up and before the general contractor leaves the site, a meeting should be held among key members of the project execution team to obtain and document everyone s feedback on what went right, what went wrong, and what could have been done better. 

The scheme was implemented and co-ordinated by a MIDAS project team, which amsisted of three women Sheila Flannery, the Project Manager, Keara Dunne, the Project Executive, and Adrienne Buchanan-Murphy, the Project Officer. Having formerly implemented a mentoring scheme at a division of Aer Rianta, Sheila Flannery possessed substantial experience with running such programs.

Methodical business and project execution planning is necessary. 

The results of this VIP are used by the project management team to update its project execution plan for each FEL phase. The class of facility quality VIP provides the best results when conducted prior to executing any other VIP eftbrt in the conceptual phase (FEL-1) of the project. 

After 1- years, the Portland cement concrete control samples at Corpus Christi that were installed contiguous to and intermixed with the sulfur concrete test samples showed total disintegration, whereas the sulfur concrete exhibited no identifiable attack (figure 2). In the summer of 1979, the ongoing maintenance needs at the Corpus Christi plant placed rehabilitation of a cellhouse basement floor in a priority position. The opportunity to perform the repair work on a full-scale basis, utilizing Bureau of Mines technology for sulfur concrete in lieu of portland cement concrete, was accomplished by an agreement for a demonstration project executed between the Bureau of Mines and Asarco. 

The overall project itself requires formally structured planning and control in addition to the validation plans for the computerized operation. To provide this, a project and quality plan from the pharmaceutical manufacturer (or its nominated main contractor) is normally developed as a separate and complimentary document and needs to overview all activities, resources, standards, and procedures required for the project. The plan should define project-execution procedures, quality management procedures, engineering standards, project program, and project organization (with authorities and reporting responsibilities), and reference the project validation plan. There are instances in which the project and quality plan and the project validation plan can be combined into one document. 

Suppliers with system development and project execution procedures in line with validation life-cycle requirements are well placed to deliver the appropriate level of validation support documentation. The existence of supplier test...
