Associations professional

The American Biological Safety Association promotes biosafety as a scientific discipline and senses the growing needs of biosafety professionals throughout the world. It is a professional association that represents the interests and needs of practitioners of biological safety, and provides a fomm for the continued and timely exchange of biosafety information. 

Professional association of people concerned with the effects of chemicals on human and animal health and the environment and who have conducted and published original investigations in some phase of toxicology. Has offices in Brussels, Pensacola, Florida, and Bangor, Australia.

The consumer movement, particularly the Consumers Health Fomm, also has considerable political influence. As a result of political pressure exerted by HIV/AIDS pressure groups and industry, the DRA was reviewed, new legislation introduced and new committees established to ensure that the regulatory authority responded more efficiently to public and political needs. Professional associations, especially the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, have traditionally played an active role in decisions related to pharmaceutical regulation. The Australian Pharmaceutical Advisory Council was established by the Australian Government to advise the Commonwealth Minister for Health on pharmaceutical policy.

Frankland s birth may have prevented him from attaining the highest professional honors. Frankland practically founded the Institute of Chemistry, the world s first professional association for scientists, but tellingly, he never became president of the prestigious Royal Society. Even Frankland s close friend Huxley wrote dismissively, Frankland won t do. ... 

In chapters 6 through 8,1 concentrate in considerable detail on two research schools that sought to unify organic chemistry and physical chemistry with theoretical foundations built on the ion and electron theory. These schools are loosely designated the "Paris" and the "London-Manchester" schools, where "school" connotes a network of personal and professional associations over several generations at the Ecole Normale Superieure, in the first case, and at London University and the University of Manchester, in the second case.

As previously stated, the American Chemistry Council also recognizes this concept as an integral part of the code of Responsible Care , Process Safety Code of Management Practices, Companies should openly share nonproprietary results from internal process safety incident investigations and related research through the auspices of trade and professional associations, and other networking opportunities. Other organizations should strive to benefit from the lessons learned by others and keep abreast of latest developments and safety alerts. 

Cholinesterase inhibitors are the only class of drugs currently approved by most Health Authorities and recommended by professional associations (e.g. Doody et al.. 2001) for the symptomatic treatment of AD. A second workshop was organized in The Netherlands (November 19 21, 2003) by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). This was in collaboration with FDA, EMEA, and other European trade and professional associations (EFPIA, EUFEPS, APIC/CEFIC and IPEC) http // www.qualityworkshop.nl/html/welkom.html. 

All training should be documented. Some professional associations have introduced an accredited portfolio for members in which the career of an analyst can be documented and their skills clearly listed. Ideally, performance in any course taken should be assessed. Certificates on a wall for merely showing up for class are not sufficient. 

Participating in one or more professional associations provides an incredible networking tool for obtaining career-related advice, discovering unadvertised job openings, and obtaining introductions into various companies through the use of personal contacts. 

Because so many different resume databases exist to which you can post your resume, for the best results pinpoint a handful of the most popular databases, based on the type of work for which you re looking. Choose five or so of the extremely popular, general interest, career-related sites, such as Hot Jobs and Career Mosaic, and then find a few databases that cater specifically to your industry, area of expertise, or trade. For example, most professional associations have their own website, and many allow their members to post their resumes. If you work in advertising, for example, find a few industry-oriented sites that cater to the advertising industry and post your resume on those sites. 

In addition to the many specialized career-related websites and those sites hosted or sponsored by professional associations or organizations, it s also an excellent strategy to visit the website of the companies for which you are interested in working. Most company websites offer company and product or service information and have their own job opportunities or employment pages where you can discover exactly what positions a specific employer has available, determine whom you need to contact within that company, and discover how that employer prefers to receive resumes and cover letters from applicants (via e-mail, fax, postal mail, etc.). 

Another excellent resource for finding a resume writer is the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches (www.parw.com). This is an organization that makes its membership list available to potential clients. 

Even if someone is a member of the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches (or another professional organization, such as the National Resume Writers Association), before hiring a professional resume writer, there are a variety of questions you should ask, listed in Exhibit 9-1. 

It was a requirement of the graduate program in Chemistry at Iowa State that all new students should discuss research projects with several faculty members before selecting a thesis advisor. My conversation with Dr. French quickly convinced me that he would be ideal as a thesis advisor. He was articulate, and thorough in the presentation of his research projects he was very enthusiastic about his research and he was most optimistic that many discoveries would be made. The decision to study with Dr. French was a good one, and led to many years of a rewarding professional association.
