Production and Trade Statistics

Decahydrate, Pentahydrate, and Anhydrous Borax and Bulk Calcium Borates. The bulk borate products, borax decahydrate and pentahydrate, anhydrous borax, boric acid and oxide, and upgraded colemanite and ulexite, account in both toimage and monetary terms for over 99% of sales of the boron primary products industry (6). Economic considerations for all these products are highly interrelated, and most production and trade statistics do not distinguish the various products. [Pg.203]

This chapter is concerned with the major and minor vegetable oils. It includes a brief account of the biosynthetic pathways for plant lipids and a description of minor, but important, components present in commercial vegetable oils. This is followed by a description of the major and minor vegetable oils. The major oils are discussed in more detail elsewhere in this work and in another recent book (1). The natural oils do not always meet human dietary requirements and may have to be modified. There is a discussion on what drives modification and of the various ways in which this can be achieved. Finally, some production and trade statistics are provided and discussed. [Pg.257]

Worldwide production of pyridine bases in the late 1980s was estimated at thousands of tons a year. Production was concentrated mainly in the United States, Western Europe, and Japan. Production statistics are not complete for any of the principal producing areas and trade statistics are also incomplete. [Pg.333]

Production and trade figures are pubUshed by the U.S. Bureau of Mines (22), the American Bureau of Metal Statistics (23), the Canadian Department of Energy, Mines, and Resources (24), and the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (25). Production figures are often incomplete because of the need to avoid disclosure of proprietary data. Hence, marketing data is often estimated. [Pg.387]

The most valuable source of price, production, and consumption statistics is Textile Organon 101, This periodical has published a valuable cumulative volume of textile statistics running through 1950. It also publishes an annual directory of man-made fiber producers, which describes fiber types from producers throughout the world and defines the trade-marks for synthetic fiber types. [Pg.195]

While the Federal Government has compiled statistics of the liquor production and trade for at least three decades, unfortunately the prohibition era has interfered so that such figures as are available cannot present an accurate picture of the liquor trade as we have known it to exist for the 1918 to 1932 period. [Pg.326]

Inconsistencies quite often arise between the various statistical sources, even for the most widely reported and usually most reliable data (i.e. on production and trade). These problems are magnified for data which is largely estimated, like that on metal consumption and East-West trade. Although these variations can normally be reconciled without too much difficulty, once the underlying assumptions are known, some care is needed to ensure consistency. To minimise any such problems we have based most of our analysis on ILZSG data, unless there have been convincing reasons not to. [Pg.21]

Foreign trade in 1976 was weakened by the death of China s three leaders, Chairman Mao Tse-tung, Premier Chou En-lai and Chu De, father of the People s Liberation Army, and continuing low foreign trade statistics reflected the miseries of the Chinese people, who at that time brought about, and suffered from, serious production and transportation difficulties. These were incited, as the Chinese like to say, by the oppressions of the infamous "Gang of Four". [Pg.321]

The official trade and custom statistics are not broken down to fine chemicals. The US Bureau of the Census classification, for instance, uses the following main product categories organic chemicals, inorganic chemicals, plastics, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, dyes colorants, and other. ... [Pg.83]

The comparison of the Austrian industrial sector with the Austrian trade sector shows that industrial enterprises amount to 2% of the total of 242,886 companies (Source Sonderauswertung der Leistungs- und Strukturstatistik 2003 [special evaluation of performance and structural statistics]). In 2003 the 4,800 industrial enterprises created more than one third of the production value of the total industry (35.6% of EUR 264.5 bio) and more than a quarter of the current gross revenue (26.3% of EUR 120.6 bio)... [Pg.44]

Although statistics vary from country to country, estimates suggest that khat users spend from 6 to 20 per day on their habit. Growing and selling khat is also big business. The Yemeni production and distribution of khat traded to Somalia alone brings in an estimated 100 million annually. Khat must be imported because the Somalis only produce enough khat for local use. Within... [Pg.93]

Three countries, the United States, Canada, and the Netherlands are the major producers and exporters of frozen French fries. According to the Department of Commerce, U.S. Census Bureau, Foreign Trade Statistics, the United States exported nearly 316 million dollars worth of frozen French fries in 2002. The other par-fried frozen products are fish sticks, breaded shrimp, and par fried chicken. [Pg.2276]

The government publications constitute the great body of statistical information on production, consumption, sales, foreign trade, stocks, foreign news, reviews, and trade conunent. In Table IV, an attempt is made to describe each citation in a few words. However, the comments relate only to the major content of market interest. An approximation of the citations was made by sampling about 10% of the record with the following result ... [Pg.123]

Information on fertilizers is available from three associations. The American Plant Food Council, Inc., of Washington, D.
