Special Evaluations

The Pascal code was updated to handle four channels. To follow the inspection speed all raw measuring data were captured and stored in the computer. All data for one coil could be stored in the computer memory (RAM) and transferred to the disk before inspection of the next coil. Evaluation of the data could be performed on-line or later using a special evaluation program. 

Applicability/Limitations Most t qjes of solid, liquid, and gaseous organic waste or a mixture of these wastes can be treated with this technology. Explosive wastes and wastes with high inorganic salt content and/or heavy metals require special evaluation. This operation can create high particulate emissions which require post-combustion control. 

Under this heading it will be convenient to divide the types of test procedures into two major categories those that are requirements in an official compendium and those that, though unofficial, are widely used in commerce. In certain cases it will also be of value to consider specialized evaluative procedures that have perhaps a more academic background. 

The comparison of the Austrian industrial sector with the Austrian trade sector shows that industrial enterprises amount to 2% of the total of 242,886 companies (Source Sonderauswertung der Leistungs- und Strukturstatistik 2003 [special evaluation of performance and structural statistics]). In 2003 the 4,800 industrial enterprises created more than one third of the production value of the total industry (35.6% of EUR 264.5 bio) and more than a quarter of the current gross revenue (26.3% of EUR 120.6 bio)... 

The Fire Services Law was revised in May, 1988, and the listing of hazardous materials has been also revised as shown in Table 1.1. The new definition of hazardous materials under the revised Fire Services Law employs modem classification methods utilizing special evaluation techniques. The following quotation comes from the official gazette and demonstrates the principle of the revision 2 5 . ... 

But there is no specific FAAS standard method specially evaluated or approved for polluted soil samples there is the EPA methods (SW-846 EPA (2000)) or one ISO standard (ISO 11047). This standard is connected with the determination of several metals in aqua regia extracts. It provides a method for the determination of Cd, Cu, Co, Pb, Mn, Ni and Zn by flame and electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometric methods. 

In another GaK edge study on a sodalite-type compound (gallobicchulite Cag [GagSi4024] (OH)g), it was also possible, by special evaluation methods, to determine the type of next-nearest neighbors, i.e., the distribution of Ga and Si over the T sites in Ga-O-T [45]. GaKEXAFS has also been applied to the question of framework incorporation of Ga into MFI-type zeoHtes in dependence on the synthetic conditions [46]. 

The newly available HTML format has been used to generate outputs from the Requirements Management System. It enables to generate a document in which the user may easily browse a current version of the requirements fde. Also an analogy of fulltext search has been implemented, using special evaluating functions. 

In Sec. 2.6 the possibilities for evaluation of derivatives were described in detail. Now some special evaluation techniques may be treated and demonstrated with practical examples. 

Although they depend on special evaluation techniques, immunoassays based on signal production via chemi- and bioluminescence are successful [58]. In clinical chemistry, this type of signal production has already gained acceptance. This is, however, not the case in environmental analysis because of the often uncontrolled interaction of matrix components with the luminescence-producing enzyme. 

All of the commercially available calorimeters are connected to a computer that manages the measurement and provides software for standard and more advanced evaluations of the original measurements. Unfortunately, the respective evaluation method and the details often are not well documented by the manufacturer, and the customer has to trust in the results calculated by a black box. This is particularly true of special evaluations such as kinetic analysis, desmearing, and heat capacity determination. To avoid problems, the user is advised to understand the respective evaluation method (see Chapter 6) and the possible sources of error involved. It is always a good idea to test the evaluation software with a measurement on such a substance or reaction where the evaluation results are well known. Of course, the manufacturer should be asked about the details of the evaluation software if the manual does not contain enough information to understand what the computer is doing.

Moreover, a special evaluation should be carried out so as to avoid potential small deviations in plant parameters from giving rise to severely abnormal plant behaviour ( cliff edge effects ) in relation to the specific nature of the external event scenario (e.g. in the case of a site protection dam, if as soon as the dam is overtopped vdth a small additional steady state water level, the site could be suddenly flooded to the maximum level of the flood). In this case, addi-tional engineering provisions should be implemented on safety systems at least for a safe shutdown mode, such as warning, monitoring and operating procedures. 

Not a significant mechanism by itself but may require special evaluation for highly irradiated cracked components. 

It is valid for thicknesses of less than 2 in. Larger thicknesses require special evaluation and it has been proposed that the FTE temperature for thicknesses over 6 in. should be taken as NDT + 120 F rather than NDT + 60 F. The FTP temperature should be NDT + 210°F instead of NDT + 120°F. This indicates that for thick sections. Fig. 4.14 is on the unconservative side and the safe operating temperature should be greater than those indicated by the figure.
