Process control confidence level required

The basic condition of the Standard application - the availability of stable coupled probabilistic or the multiple probabilistic relations between then controlled quality indexes and magnetic characteristics of steel. All the probabilistic estimates, used in the Standard, are applied at confidence level not less than 0,95. General requirements to the means of control and procedure of its performance are also stipulated. Engineers of standard development endeavoured take into consideration the existed practice of technical control performance and test at the enterprises that is why the preparation of object control for the performance of nondestructive test can be done during the process of ordinary acceptance test. It is suggested that every enterprise is operated in correspondence with direct and non-destructive tests, obtained exactly at it, for detailed process chart and definite product type, however the tests have long since been performed after development of the Standard displayed that process gives way to unification. [Pg.25]

The instrument has been evaluated by Luster, Whitman, and Fauth (Ref 20). They selected atomized Al, AP and NGu as materials for study that would be representative of proplnt ingredients. They found that only 2000 particles could be counted in 2 hours, a time arbitrarily chosen as feasible for control work. This number is not considered sufficient, as 18,000 particles are required for a 95% confidence level. Statistical analysis of results obtained for AP was impossible because of discrepancies In the data resulting from crystal growth and particle agglomeration. The sample of NGu could not be handled by the instrument because it consisted of a mixt of needles and chunky particles. They concluded that for dimensionally stable materials such as Al or carborundum, excellent agreement was found with other methods such as the Micromerograph or visual microscopic count. But because of the properties peculiar to AP and NGu, the Flying Spot Particle Resolver was not believed suitable for process control of these materials... [Pg.531]

At an initial HUPO-PSI-sponsored meeting of this group it was decided that the approach to designing such a format should be multilayered, with Level 1 designed to fulfil basic requirements and be suitable for rapid implementahon. Subsequent levels will supply further complexity and flexibility, for example the ability to deal with other interactors such as nucleic acids.
