Preventive procedures

Pollution Prevention. Procedures haven been developed for recovery of composite ammonium perchlorate propellant from rocket motors, and the treatment of scrap and recovered propellant to reclaim ingredients. These include the use of high pressure water jets or compounds such as ammonia, which form fluids under pressure at elevated temperature, to remove the propellant from the motor, extraction of the ammonium perchlorate with solvents such as water or ammonia as a critical fluid, recrystalli2ation of the perchlorate and reuse in composite propellant or in slurry explosives or conversion to perchloric acid (166,167). 

Hazard identification, step one, means identification of new chemicals or other factors that may cause harmful health effects. Previously, novel hazards were usually observed in case studies or after accidents or other excessive exposures, usually in occupational environments. Today, thorough toxicity studies are required on all pesticides, food additives, and drugs. New chemicals also have to be studied for their potential toxic effects. Thus, earlier hazards were in most cases identified after they had caused harmful effects in humans. Today, most chemical products have been evaluated for their toxicity with experimental animals. Therefore, hazard identification has become a preventive procedure based on safety studies conducted before a chemical compound or product reaches the market, and before individuals are exposed to it. ...

Grazing management strategies aim to reduce the contact of hosts to infectious GIN larvae on pasture. They can be divided into three categories (Barger, 1997) the preventive procedure, evasive grazing and dilusive grazing. 

The preventive procedure relies on putting worm-free animals on a parasite-free or a clean pasture. Clean areas may be new leys or can be provided on permanent pasture by alternating with other livestock species not sharing the same spectrum of parasites, or by use of aftermath after harvesting a hay or silage crop (this procedure is generally difficult to apply under practical farming conditions). 

II Prevention Procedures These procedures describe the actions to be taken to identify potential emergencies and to prevent or mitigate their effects. Some of these procedures may be covered by a safety plan or other document and they may be referenced in the ERP rather than reproduced.

An automobile manufacturer that has a past history of applying sound pollution prevention procedures to its processes has proposed to construct a plant in a nonattaimnent area in Pennsylvania. Today, in spite of early false trails, phosphoras compounds are frequently found to play a key role in the treatment of disease or unwanted conditions. Their medicinal function may be in the form of drugs, dietary supplements, bioconstruction materials or in diagnostic or preventative procedures. During an accident or emergency, a source is often out of human control. This necessitates prompt action to mitigate a hazard or to prevent adverse consequences for human health and safety, quality of life, and condition of the environment. In addition, protective action should be taken in some chronic exposures. Intervention and action levels support the decisions regarding the introduction of different preventive procedures. 

Conducting a JSA can be a valuable learning experience for both new and experienced employees. Not only does it help them understand their jobs better, but it also familiarizes them with potential hazards and involves them in developing accident prevention procedures. Workers are more likely to follow procedures if they have a voice in planning. Finally, the JSA process causes employees to think about safety and how it relates to their jobs.

Before a corrosion prevention procedure using inhibitors can be implemented, the system requirements should be clearly understood. The following problem areas and parameters will dictate the requirements and performance specifications of a particular inhibitor. 

There clearly is a need for an agency to research, define, document and then educate effective accident prevention procedures. In Ontario the additional step of widely and aggressively publicizing this agency through the media was also taken. 

The processes by which this admirable relationship are effected are as follows. At the same time, the results of such research automatically become part of the curriculum of the Construction Safety Association of Ontario in its educational efforts with the entire construction force. It is encouraging that such ad hoc groups are not stimulated alone by penalties, but by a sincere desire for self-improvement in, or achievement of, better accident prevention procedures. 

The approaches to deal with uncertainty can be classified into reactive and preventive procedures. Reactive approaches attempt to modify a nominal plan obtained by a deterministic formulation so as to adjust it to changes. Rule-based methodologies, heuristics, and intelligent agents are commonly used to perform the required modifications. However, they are problem-specific and consequently difficult to extend.
