PRESSURE HOSE

A small vertical paste extruder can be used to manufacture spaghetti tubing. The small size of this kind of tubing eliminates most of the handling problems associated with larger ones. A vertical machine can extrude upwards or downwards. [Pg.178]

Extrusion conditions are quite similar to those used in wire coating. [Pg.178]

This class of tubing serves critical purposes in a number of industries. The normal size range is from 6 to 50 mm in diameter. The tube sizes in the United States have a special designation. In the industry parlance, they are called by a dash number, such as - 4 (dash four) or -12 (dash twelve). To obtain the diameter of the tube in inches, the number must be multiplied by 1/16, thus, - 4 is equal to 1/4 inch and -12 is equal to 3/4 inch. [Pg.178]

For this and subsequent demonstrations involving a heat source, use a gas torch such as the Sievert self-blowing propane outfit (W. A. Meyer Ltd., 9/11 Gleneldon Road, London SW16 2AU, or from most tool shops) this comprises 3.9-kg propane bottle, 3085 hose-failure valve, fitted pressure hose no. 16310,3486 torch, 2941 burner. [Pg.292]

Although transformers suitable for other industrial installations are generally suitable for producing applications, certain options may be desirable— primarily due to environmental considerations. At locations subject to harsh environmental conditions, and particularly at locations subject to washdown with high-pressure hoses, non-ventilated enclosures are desirable, if not necessary. Likewise, at locations subjected to salt water and salt-laden air, it often is desirable to specify copper windings and lead wires. Most manufacturers provide standard units with aluminum windings and lead wires. Even if aluminum coils are used, it is almost always desirable to require stranded copper lead wires. This will lessen corrosion and loose terminal problems when transformers arc interconnected to the facility electrical system with copper conductors. If the transformers are to be installed outdoors in corrosive environments, cases should be of corrosion-resistant material (e.g., stainless steel) or be provided with an exterior coating suitable for the location. [Pg.541]

Explosive decompression in pressurized hose and seals can result in damage only after several decompression cycles, i.e. as a result of fatigue. Tests were made42 which produced fracture surfaces similar to those from explosive decompression and the importance of maximum strain, temperature, void size and void position was highlighted. [Pg.254]

CNG dispensing hose uses an impervious inner tube reinforced by a braided over-wrap of stainless steel wire. The inner tube can be teflon or a similar material that is not porous and will not become overly stiff in cold weather. An unusual problem that can occur with high-pressure hose is that if static electricity builds up inside the hose, it may discharge through the hose to the wire reinforcement. When this occurs, a small hole is formed in the inner tube that quickly leads to a leak through the wire reinforcement. Such incidents are rare, but they do occur, caused by the non-conducting properties of the inner tube. There have been no reported incidents of such failures in CNG dispensing hoses. [Pg.113]

Different extrusion profile processes can be used such as a robotic profile. A robot delivers the hot melt over or around a substrate. This robotic extrusion process can uses a flexible, heated, high-pressure hose that is connected to the extruder s die exit. The hot melt travels through the hose. At the end of the hose is a nozzle the tip of this nozzle is, in effect the actual profile die. A computer-regulated multiaxis robot controls the positioning of the profile nozzle die. The nozzle/die is guided by the robot to deposit the profile s hot melt on, as an example, a substrate that is on a multi-station rotating table supporting other substrates to be covered. [Pg.257]

Steel in a wire or filamentary form is commonly used for reinforcement of tires and pressure hoses. It is also used for reinforcement of concrete, although more often than not, for this purpose it is in the form of a rod (diameter greater than 1 cm) rather than a wire. Steel wire with 0.8-0.9 wt% carbon (eutectoid steel) is used in pianos and in steel ropes used as cables in su iension bridges and for other structural purposes. We should emphasize the use of fine diameter steel... [Pg.130]

Suction hoses should be reinforced to resist collapse. They should be larger than pressure hoses, with an inside diameter equal to or larger than the inlet part of the pump. All fittings on suction lines should be as large as or larger than the inlet part of the pump. [Pg.336]

Q.6.2 A new company sells a scuba marker buoy that is much smaller to carry because it has a highly flexible and elastic wall. A dive master on a similar dive to the one in problem Q.6.1 inflates the flexible buoy to 2 1 using the high pressure hose from her gas cylinder. She attaches the buoy to a line and lets it go to the surface. The temperature at 60 ft is 15°C... [Pg.29]

Each of the five Soviet divisions which rolled across the border in December 1979 and January 1980 carried with it portable chambers in which troops could quickly strip off contaminated clothing, and trucks mounted with high pressure hoses capable of cleaning the heaviest nerve agent from tanks or troop carriers within minutes. Eyewitnesses spoke of seeing Russian soldiers carrying gas masks and heavy anti-gas suits. [Pg.285]
