Reliable correlations were found between lead concentrations in the soil and the incidence rates in the population of Dnepropetrovsk. As I said at the beginning, I have far more to forecast than to recall not only the production but the disappearance of some enzymes must be considered as well as the existence of different active forms of the enzymes at different stages of development attention must be paid to the endocrine regulation of enzyme onset and activity activation and inactivation, fine and coarse regulation through the differentiation processes prenatal treatments for the promotion of adequate levels of enzyme activities at birth scientific bases for a better care of pregnancy and delivery. The most effective treatment is delivery of the baby. However, during the course of pregnancy, routine urine analysis and blood pressure checks by a doctor indicate the onset of toxemia. Once the onset of toxemia is noted, control measures such as sodium restriction, diuretics, sedatives, and bed rest may be initiated. Nevertheless, toxemia becomes increasingly difficult to manage the last month of pregnancy, and delivery may be induced slightly before term to prevent harmful effects to both the mother and the child.
