The diversity of size and form of babies bom even after normal pregnancy is remarkable. However, this is not only due to genetic variation but to the behaviour and nutrition of the mother adequate nutrition, macro- plus micronutrients, plus the essential fatty acids, essential amino acids and the conditionally essential amino acids. Too high an intake of alcohol and smoking tobacco are known to affect the size of the baby with, in some cases, a reduction in the nnmber of cells in particular tissues/organs. 

Avoid use of high doses of argatroban in PCI patients with clinically significant hepatic disease or AST/ALT levels at least 3 times the upper limit of normal. Pregnancy Category B. 

Pregnancy Category B (chlorothiazide, chlorthalidone, hydrochlorothiazide, indapamide, metolazone) Cafego/y C(bendroflumethiazide, methyclothiazide). Routine use during normal pregnancy is inappropriate. 

In a normal pregnancy, the Qi and blood are flourishing in the Chong and Ren meridians. This can often give rise to heat so cold herbs that reduce heat and soothe the Stomach-Qi are often used. After delivery, and while the mother is nursing the newborn baby, the Qi and blood are often weakened, therefore warm herbs that tonify the blood and Qi tend to be used.

Pregnant women should be advised to contact their physician before taking spironolactone, since routine use of diuretics during normal pregnancy is inappropriate and exposes the mother and her fetus to an unnecessary hazard. Diuretics do not prevent development of toxemia of pregnancy, and there is no satisfactory evidence that they are useful in the treatment of toxemia. Diuretics are indicated only in the treatment of edema due to pathologic causes, or as a short course of treatment in patients with severe hypervolemia.

Both the active and passive modes of calcium transport are increased during pregnancy and lactation. This is probably due to the increase in calbindin and serum PTH and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D concentrations that occur during normal pregnancy. Intestinal calcium absorption is also dependent on age, with a 0.2% per year decline in absorption efficiency starting in midlife. The fractional absorption of calcium depends on the form and dietary source. Absorption rates are 29% for the calcium in cow s milk, 35% for calcium citrate, 27% for calcium carbonate, and 25% for tricalcium phosphate. Other factors that limit the bioavailability of calcium in the intestine are oxalates and phy-tates, which are found in high quantities in vegetarian diets and which chelate calcium. 

The scope of the method for assessment of foetal lung maturity has been extended for evaluation of the risk for development of RDS of new-boms by testing AF with blood and mecomium, obtained from women with normal pregnancy [33]. An experimental study of corticosteroid action on lung surfactant [34] as well as the effect of betamethasone (Celestone) on foetal lung development in rats [35] has been also carried out.
