Platform orientation

MACIP (CIMS Application Integration Platform for Manufacturing Enterprises) is a Chinese national high-technology R D key technology research project. The MACIP project is designed to develop a research prototype of an application platform oriented to the new IP technology described above. 

Analysis and tests show that a CWP connected to a floating platform by a fixed joint will not survive in an ocean environment. Therefore, a flexible connection to the platform is required at the top of the pipe. The CWP connection with the platform must embody a sea-water seal and allow movement at the joint through an angle of up to 30° at atty platform orientation, to survive in the maximum 100-year storm. The cormection must also support the weight of the CWP, inclirding loads imposed by heave of the platform.

In the automotive business, platform refers to a family of related products or principal components. These are sold under well-known brand names such as Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge. At Chrysler Group, there are platforms for several product categories, plus one platform oriented to a major component system. Table 16.5 lists the Chrysler Group platforms. 

Lutz, as President of Chrysler at the time, led the effort to break down the monolithic departments. His approach was to split the monolithic departments into platform-oriented teams, equivalent to moving from a functional to a product-centric focus. This created a central, large organization with small appendages for each platform. 

Tower piping is located in conjunction with tray, nozzle, and platform orientation. Xdien possible, the piping is grouped for ease of suppon and positioned to accommodate interconneaion with related equipment and the pipe rack. Exhibit 10-51 shows the preferred areas of division for piping, platforming, and ladders. 

If a shallow kick off in soft formation is required (e.g. to steer the borehole away underneath platforms) a technique using jet bit deflection or badgering is employed (Fig. 3.16). A rock bit is fitted with two small and one large jet. With the bit on bottom and oriented in the desired direction the string is kept stationary and mud is pumped through the nozzles. This causes asymmetric erosion of the borehole beneath the larger jet. Once sufficient hole has been jetted, the drill bit will be rotated again and the new course followed. This process will be repeated until the planned deviation is reached.

Their R D activities are oriented to deepen and broaden the current proprietary technology portfolio that they use in offering their services but also to use their own platform in drug discovery, diagnostics and detection and prevention of drug effects. 

Bachem produces biochemical and pharmaceutical compounds, and offers complementary services on a proprietary technology platform. Although, oriented to the Health Sector, it supports synthetic methods from customers for defined target structures up to the registration of new compounds. Consequently, R D activities are also a strong part of Bachem business that encourages collaborations with technology partners to produce new active substances. 

To better understand the critical role of oligosaccharide-receptor interactions and their molecular mechanisms through the cluster-effect, and thus access optimized synthetic ligands, several research groups have shown creativity in proposing original multivalent platforms that could allow for tailored valencies, dimensions, and epitope orientations.

A prime consideration in the provision of lifeboats for offshore installations is that they can be readily maneuvered away from the structure of the installation. Recent trends have been for the orientation of lifeboats to point outwards so that egress away from the structure is improved and the fear of being swept into the platform by the waves and current is lessened. Positioning in an outward orientation also improves the evacuation time for the boat to "get away" from the incident. 

Object-oriented development (OOD) bases the software structure on a model of the users world within which the software will work. One benefit is that when the users talk in their own vocabulary about changes in their requirements, it is easier to see which parts of the software are relevant. The mirroring is not always exact—because of the constraints of platform, performance, and generalization—but if the differences are localized and clearly documented, the benefits of OOD are not lost. 

The simplest structural platforms to be exploited with the coenzyme amino acid chimeras were a family of -hairpin peptides. In these peptides, the amino acid side chains are oriented perpendicular to the plane created by the hairpin, with sequential residue side chains positioned on alternating sides of the hairpin. By placing specific residues across the sheet from the coenzyme residue, these peptides offer a potentially simple way of delivering side-chain functionality to the coenzyme derivative. A -hairpin peptide structure is promoted by the inclusion of a hetero-chiral turn sequence to promote type II or 11 -turn formation [26].
