Proprietary technologies

Glycolysis is claimed to be somewhat less cosdy than methan olysis (33). Depolymerization is not taken completely to monomers (34). Rather, recovered PET is depolymerized to low molecular weight oligomers. Contaminants are removed using proprietary technology. The oligomers are then fed to a melt polymerization vessel in which PET is produced. [Pg.230]

Recent advances in Eischer-Tropsch technology at Sasol include the demonstration of the slurry-bed Eischer-Tropsch process and the new generation Sasol Advanced Synthol (SAS) Reactor, which is a classical fluidized-bed reactor design. The slurry-bed reactor is considered a superior alternative to the Arge tubular fixed-bed reactor. Commercial implementation of a slurry-bed design requires development of efficient catalyst separation techniques. Sasol has developed proprietary technology that provides satisfactory separation of wax and soHd catalyst, and a commercial-scale reactor is being commissioned in the first half of 1993. [Pg.164]

As the nonwoven fabrics industry has matured and technology has become pubHcly available, emphasis in the various sectors of the industry has changed. In the 1990s, some portions of the nonwovens industry are technology driven, whereas others are market driven. A number of firms are proprietary technology based, and others are turn-key plant operations. Some corporations are commodity roU-goods producers, and others are more oriented to niche market, high value-added products. Many nonwoven produces continue the quest for new markets and more opportunities to compete with textiles, paper, and plastics. [Pg.158]

The hterature consists of patents, books, journals, and trade Hterature. The examples in patents may be especially valuable. The primary Hterature provides much catalyst performance data, but there is a lack of quantitative results characterizing the performance of industrial catalysts under industrially reaHstic conditions. Characterizations of industrial catalysts are often restricted to physical characterizations and perhaps activity measurements with pure component feeds, but it is extremely rare to find data characterizing long-term catalyst performance with impure, multicomponent industrial feedstocks. Catalyst regeneration procedures are scarcely reported. Those who have proprietary technology are normally reluctant to make it known. Readers should be critical in assessing published work that claims a relevance to technology. [Pg.183]

Flexible batch applications must be pursued using a struc tured approach to batch logic. In such apphcations, the same processing equipment is used to make a variety of products. In most facihties, little or no proprietary technology is associated with the equipment itself the proprietaiy technology is how this equipment is used to produce each of the products. [Pg.756]

The success of Linde s process and engineering contracting business is discussed. Its proprietary technology includes petrochemical projects, largely ethylene crackers, which account for roughly half of its sales, and over 300 processes protected by 1500 patents. [Pg.69]

Companies may have either accessed these technologies or continue to use them as standalone or integrated with proprietary technologies. These portfolios may be in addition to internal software efforts that are likely to be ongoing. [Pg.146]

Experiments may need to be viewed or presented 30 or 40 years after they are saved in a database. For instance, a lawyer may ask for experimental documents to defend a company in a product liability lawsuit. An important requirement here is that the document format should be independent of the application used to create the information, and that ideally the long-term archive format should not be based on a proprietary technology. This is a... [Pg.223]

There are an increasing number of solution providers who supply or claim to supply ELN systems. The products themselves can be categorized in a number of different ways, looking at, for example, packaged solutions versus bespoke systems, single-purpose systems versus flexible, open-architecture versus proprietary technology. [Pg.226]

REDDY SASTRY c V, RUKMINI c, IKE LYNCH, MCPEAK D (1999) Process for obtaining micronutrient enriched rice bran oil. US Patent 5,985,344 RiceX Company, Proprietary Technology. [Pg.374]

Their proprietary technology package includes FLEX and MicroFLEX for library construction, and is based on high-throughput sequencing, tracking and analysis systems. [Pg.233]

Their R D activities are oriented to deepen and broaden the current proprietary technology portfolio that they use in offering their services but also to use their own platform in drug discovery, diagnostics and detection and prevention of drug effects. [Pg.237]

Oxford Gene Technologies offers services and licenses their proprietary technologies. The array technique surveys hybridization across gene sequences. The customized DNA microarray service supports research activities, and includes consultation, experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation. [Pg.243]

Altus has developed proprietary technology platform, known as Crystalomics , to enable the rapid commercialization of high-value protein-based products. The primary focus is on the 300 billion pharmaceutical industry, where the technology is designed to significantly accelerate the development of both large and small molecule pharmaceuticals. The Crystalomics platform addresses the major limitations in protein-based developments by enabling protein candidates transformation into their crystalline state. The application of the Crystalomics platform is in the development of protein-based biocatalytic products and processes, for use in the production of small molecule pharmaceuticals, for therapeutical purposes. [Pg.249]

Bachem produces biochemical and pharmaceutical compounds, and offers complementary services on a proprietary technology platform. Although, oriented to the Health Sector, it supports synthetic methods from customers for defined target structures up to the registration of new compounds. Consequently, R D activities are also a strong part of Bachem business that encourages collaborations with technology partners to produce new active substances. [Pg.250]

The business of BioZone Laboratories concerns development, manufacturing, and marketing of products and technologies, such as drugs and preparations, cosmetics, and nutritional supplements. All product lines are supported by proprietary technologies, and research and development activities are considered to be of a core importance for the business. The IP estate is also available for commercialization, particularly in the prescription area, for which several drug delivery systems and a prescription version of Inflacin were developed. [Pg.260]

Product and services of interest include genomics, proteomics, custom research and services, and instruments, accessories, consumables and software. PerkinElmer proprietary technologies include time-resolved fluorescence which is employed in the sensitive Wallac DELFIA system and Wallac LANCE homogeneous assay system, and fluorescence polarization, [FP]2 , a robust fluorescence-based technique for receptor binding assays that is both fast and easy-to-use. [Pg.274]

Microbes, Inc. founded in 1988, is a Delaware corporation, whose business includes two areas increasing yields from (1) oilfields and (2) food crops. The oil-related business entails the development and supply of microbial products and services for enhancing oil recovery from existing reservoirs. National Parakleen Company, Inc. is a subsidiary, which since 1988, have applied their proprietary technology in oil wells and reservoirs, jointly with Microbes, Inc. Their enhanced recovery technology (Migration Microbial... [Pg.349]

Ms. Lee also possesses experience in technology commercialization. She was involved in the successful commercialization of a proprietary technology that transformed recycled material into environmentally sound products for the building material industry. She went on to pursue her MBA degree, which she earned from York University s Schulich School of Business. She continues her career, combining her engineering and business experiences with her interest in the environmental field. [Pg.925]

DSM Pharma Chemicals Proprietary technology, process R D, custom manufacturing. Production process [137]. [Pg.1312]

The classical royalty model has long been the norm, and is still well accepted for the manufacture of fine chemicals or commodities where the production costs are a very significant part of the final price of the product. However, our experience is that this model is not well accepted in the Life Science Industry and often presents a real hurdle for the application of proprietary technology for the production of new chemical entities. The all-inclusive model takes care of these concerns, and allows the customer to compare competing solutions on the basis of actual costs as well as of their potential for improvement. The same is true for volume-independent payments, and for both methods all process improvements totally benefit the customer s bottom line and are not reduced by increasing royalty fees. [Pg.1317]
