Electroplating. The second-largest appHcation for nickel chemicals is as electrolytes ia nickel electroplating (qv). In ordinary plating systems, nickel present ia the electrolyte never forms on the finished workpiece the latter results from dissolution and transfer from nickel anodes. Decorative nickel plating is used for automobile bumpers and trim, appHances, wire products, flatware, jewelry, and many other consumer items. A comprehensive review of nickel electroplating has been compiled (164). [Pg.15]

Selection of active strains was achieved using the 20-well screening plate system discussed in Section 9.3.3. One screening plate containing 20 actinomycetes strains in malt extract medium was incubated for 2 days at 28 °C and 275 rpm. The Cup-Plate or Well Procedure. This procedure is similar to the cylinder-plate system except that wells are cut into the agar with cutters capable of cutting uniform, completely circular wells. With several springs, which function as torque gauges, and a number of spindles, viscosities can be measured up to 109 mPa-s with the Brookfield viscometer. The shear rates depend on the model and the sensor system they are ca 0.1 100 s-1 for the disk spindles, <132 s-1 for concentric cylinders, and <1500 s-1 for the cone—plate for low viscosity samples.
