Pipe low

The code requires the submission of an instrument and piping (low sheet. All instruments should be numbered for identification and ihe actual instruments labeled. The code is very helpful in recommending the range and sensitivity required, and close adherence is recommended. [Pg.423]

Other types are available which consist of bars or flat sheets placed lengthwise in a pipe. Low-pressure drops are characteristic of all of these types of mixers. Mixing of even highly viscous materials is quite good in these mixers. [Pg.152]

Channel depth, H at a given flow rate there is an optimum channel depth for a maximum pressure i.e., it depends on the extruder output rate and the die restriction a drinking straw (high) or a water pipe (low). [Pg.139]

Urethane sealants have good elongation and recovery, excellent abrasion resistance and tear strength their resistance to indentation make them the preferred compounds for floor joint compounds, highway and airfield joint materials, and preformed gasket seals in clay and concrete pipe. Low temperature performance (to below —40°C) is superior to that of the... [Pg.625]

The differences in the basehnes with Cr% = 0 or C% = 0 indicates that martensitic steels could corrode somewhat faster than normalized ones. When the flow rate produces friction stresses on the corrosion product (or inhibitor) film, it may break them, with the result of a much higher corrosion rate. Conversely, as with horizontal pipes, low flow rates are generally not able to remove the free water that is stagnant at the 6 o clock position. [Pg.74]

Gas processing facilities generally work best at between 10 and 100 bar. At low pressure, vessels have to be large to operate effectively, whereas at higher pressures facilities can be smaller but vessel walls and piping systems must be thicker. Optimum recovery of heavy hydrocarbons is achieved between 20 bar and 40 bar. Long distance pipeline pressures may reach 150 bar and reinjection pressure can be as high as 700 bar. The gas process line will reflect gas quality and pressure as well as delivery specifications. [Pg.249]

The scope of the directive covers the design, manufacture and conformity assessment of pressure equipment and assemblies with a maximum allowable pressure greater than 0,5 bar. A pressure equipment in the sense of the directive is any vessel, piping, safety accessory or pressure accessory. An assembly means several pieces of pressure equipment assembled by a manufacturer to constitute an integrated and functional whole. It is important to be aware that the directive relates exclusively to the pressure risk and that therefore other directives, such as for machinery, low voltage may be applicable to the equipment concerned. [Pg.941]

Certain types of equipment are specifically excluded from the scope of the directive. It is self-evident that equipment which is already regulated at Union level with respect to the pressure risk by other directives had to be excluded. That is the case with simple pressure vessels, transportable pressure equipment, aerosols and motor vehicles. Other equipment, such as carbonated drink containers or radiators and piping for hot water systems are excluded from the scope because of the limited risk involved. Also excluded are products which are subject to a minor pressure risk which are covered by the directives on machinery, lifts, low voltage, medical devices, gas appliances and on explosive atmospheres. A further and last group of exclusions refers to equipment which presents a significant pressure risk, but for which neither the free circulation aspect nor the safety aspect necessitated their inclusion. [Pg.941]

Radioactive isotopes show excellent properties as tracers since they are detectable in very low concentrations (i.e. high dilution) and with high specificity. Further y-emitting radioactive tracers can be measured in situ, through pipe and vessel walls which enables e.g. studies of processes under high pressures, and processes involving a gaseous phase. [Pg.1053]

Corrosion Resistant Fiber-Reinforced Plastic (FRP). Fiber glass reinforcement bonded with furfuryl alcohol thermosetting resias provides plastics with unique properties. Excellent resistance to corrosion and heat distortion coupled with low flame spread and low smoke emission are characteristics that make them valuable as laminating resins with fiber glass (75,76). Another valuable property of furan FRP is its strength at elevated temperature. Hand-layup, spray-up, and filament-win ding techniques are employed to produce an array of corrosion-resistant equipment, pipes, tanks, vats, ducts, scmbbers, stacks, and reaction vessels for industrial appHcations throughout the world. [Pg.81]

Mechanical Cake Removal. This method is used in the American version of the dynamic filter described under cross-flow filtration with rotating elements, where turbine-type rotors are used to limit the cake thickness at low speeds. The Exxflow filter, introduced in the United Kingdom, is described in more detail under cross-flow filtration in porous pipes. It uses, among other means, a roUer cleaning system which periodically roUs over a curtain of flexible pipes and dislodges any cake on the inside of the pipes. The cake is then flushed out of the curtain by the internal flow. [Pg.409]

A low Reynolds number indicates laminar flow and a paraboHc velocity profile of the type shown in Figure la. In this case, the velocity of flow in the center of the conduit is much greater than that near the wall. If the operating Reynolds number is increased, a transition point is reached (somewhere over Re = 2000) where the flow becomes turbulent and the velocity profile more evenly distributed over the interior of the conduit as shown in Figure lb. This tendency to a uniform fluid velocity profile continues as the pipe Reynolds number is increased further into the turbulent region. [Pg.55]

The wedge design maintains a square root relationship between flow rate and differential pressure for pipe Reynolds numbers as low as approximately 500. The meter can be flow caUbrated to accuracies of approximately 1% of actual flow rate. Accuracy without flow caUbration is about 5%. [Pg.61]
