Grapefruit oil is produced mainly in the United States (Florida) and its composition and its sensory properties vary with the cultivar (white/pink grapefruits). Minor producers are Israel and Argentina. Usually, grapefruit oil contains more than 90 % terpene hydrocarbons ((+)-limonene, 92-96%), octanal (0.2-0.8%), decanal (0.1-0.6 %) and 0.01-0.8 % nootkatone [371]. Worldwide production is around 1500 t/yr. [Pg.197]
