If the alcohol is required for conductivity or other physico-chemical work and traces of bases are objectionable, these may be removed by redistillation from a little 2 4 6-trinitrobenzoic acid. This acid is selected because it is not esterified by alcohols, consequently no water is introduced into the alcohol. [Pg.168]

Although the size separation/classification methods are adequate in some cases to produce a final saleable mineral product, in a vast majority of cases these produce Httle separation of valuable minerals from gangue. Minerals can be separated from one another based on both physical and chemical properties (Fig. 8). Physical properties utilized in concentration include specific gravity, magnetic susceptibility, electrical conductivity, color, surface reflectance, and radioactivity level. Among the chemical properties, those of particle surfaces have been exploited in physico-chemical concentration methods such as flotation and flocculation. The main objective of concentration is to separate the valuable minerals into a small, concentrated mass which can be treated further to produce final mineral products. In some cases, these methods also produce a saleable product, especially in the case of industrial minerals. [Pg.401]

The integral values of effective interfacial area can thus be obtained by measuring the reaction (extraction) rate and using physico-chemical properties of the reactants. A reaction satisfying the above conditions consists of hydrolysis of hexyl formate (11) ... [Pg.430]

In this work the development of mathematical model is done assuming simplifications of physico-chemical model of peroxide oxidation of the model system with the chemiluminesce intensity as the analytical signal. The mathematical model allows to describe basic stages of chemiluminescence process in vitro, namely spontaneous luminescence, slow and fast flashes due to initiating by chemical substances e.g. Fe +ions, chemiluminescent reaction at different stages of chain reactions evolution. [Pg.54]

To understand the causes of signal change and therefore to explain the influence of physico-chemical factors on its shape and magnitude, the mathematical models are employed. A multitude of different and often contradictory models were proposed to describe the atom formation in ET AAS, but they do not take into account a number of effects influencing appreciably the atomic absorption profile. The surface effects (such as staictural changes in graphite tubes, surface porosity, analyte penetration into graphite etc.) ai e very important. [Pg.105]

In this work the state-of-the-art and perspectives of column characterization and compai ison have been presented and discussed. All information about physico-chemical properties of RP HPLC Cl8 and C8 columns as porosity, average surface area, free silanol concentration, binding ligand density and others, were summarized. The points of views about column classifications, its advantages and disadvantages were discussed. It was shown that Cl8 and C8 HPLC column classification processes do not allow selecting the column with the same or preai range selectivity. [Pg.131]
