Periodic monitoring

Penicillamine (29) can be effective in patients with refractory RA and may delay progression of erosions, but adverse effects limit its useflilness. The most common adverse side effects for penicillamine are similar to those of parenteral gold therapy, ie, pmritic rash, protein uria, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia. Decreased or altered taste sensation is a relatively common adverse effect for penicillamine. A monthly blood count, platelet count, and urinalysis are recommended, and also hepatic and renal function should be periodically monitored. Penicillamine is teratogenic and should not be used during pregnancy. 

ASME recommends periodic monitoring of all pumps. Pump vibration level should fall within the prescribed Emits. The reference vibration level is measured during acceptance testing. This level is specified by the manufacturer. 

Leakage current monitor - this can be connected perma-nently for continuous reading or periodic monitoring. Periodically monitor the employee throughout the work day to ensure that sample integrity is maintained and cyclical activities and work practices are identified. 

Checks to the air and flue gas system include visually inspecting the furnace and periodically monitoring all fans, levels of draft, furnace pressure, excess air demands, and combustion efficiency.

The cost of passive gas control systems is low. The passive concept has virtually no operating or maintenance costs. However, it is recommended that periodic inspections be made and that the surface gas be periodically monitored in the area being protected to ensure that the systems are performing their intended functions.

Women with controlled dyslipidemias can use low-dose CHCs, with periodic monitoring of fasting lipid profiles. Women with uncontrolled dysiipidemia (LDL greater than 160 mg/dL, HDL less than 35 mg/dL, triglycerides greater than 250 mg/dL) and additional risk factors (e.g., coronary artery disease, diabetes, hypertension, smoking, or a positive family history) should use an alternative method of contraception.

Periodic monitoring points should include extraction, injection, and monitoring points. When sampling injection wells, the injection system should be shut down for approximately 24 h to allow ambient conditions to be reestablished. Monitoring wells should be purged and sampled according to standard procedures. Extracted fluid material (pumped water) can be sampled by the same procedures as collecting a surface water sample.
