Performance management assessments

The elements involved in risk assessment and risk management are depicted schematically in Figure 8.1. The procedure by which carcinogenic risk assessments are generally performed, and the ways in which data of the various types discussed above are utilized in performing such assessments have been reviewed elsewhere (Krewski and Brown, 1981), and are outlined below. 

Using the Scenario Manager a broad range of analyses can be performed to assess the consequences of different market, cost or currency developments. A lead assessor (and/or assessment manager) w ill perform the assessment supported by independent technical assessors with the expertise to look at the specific areas of the laboratory s work that are being accredited. 

The process of pharmacists dispensing prescriptions is designed to ensure that patients receive the proper drug in the correct dosage and with correct directions for use. This pharmaceutical care requires the pharmacist to perform an assessment of the patient s medications, to monitor their use and effects, and to communicate with the prescriber and patient to correct or prevent drug-related problems. This drug therapy review service is codified in the term medication therapy management. 

Application of bioassays for ecological assessments The evaluation of threats posed to ecological receptors or functions is probably the most significant reason for the application of biological test methods. There exist different approaches for using bioassays to perform risk assessments and to draw conclusions for risk management decisions. 

In environmental hazard assessment of chemicals, it is necessary to evaluate exposure and effects on humans or ecosystems, and then to perform an assessment. It consists of comparing the predicted environmental concentration (PEC) and the predicted no effect concentration (PNEC) and to make a judgement as to whether the chemical ent ng into environments is hazardous or not. Ultimately, risk management including regulation of chemicals is necessary if a potential hazard is predicted (see also chapter by Motschi). 

We chose to demonstrate the contribution of effective leadership to recruiting using the examples of selection and mentoring. However, leadership and motivation are important parts of other recruiting processes, such as in interviewer skills and assessment of candidates motivation. We chose those aspects that we feel benefit especially from the new genre of leadership theories. We continue to use this approach with the HRM function of performance management.

Management Assessment. Management at a 11 levels should periodically assess the integrated quality ASSURANCE program and its performance. Problems that hinder the organization from achieving its objectives should be identified and corrected.
