Conservation. In an attempt to save paper, preventive conservation care deserves the highest priority, because it reduces the need for potentially hazardous, comphcated, and expensive treatments later (159—162). Problems which have a stmctural impact on long-term stabiUty of paper should be given a higher priority than problems which are merely cosmetic in nature. For example, infestation by insects, attracted by nutrients in paper, can cause irreparable loss of media and support. 

There are many different ways to format the parts of a paper. Most are explained in great detail with many examples in handbooks called style guides. Well-known style guides include The Chicago Manual of Style, The Modern Language Association Manual of Style, and The American Psychological Association Manual of Style. Usually your teacher will direct you to the style guide he or she prefers you to follow in your paper. Look at it as you prepare your list of sources—this will save you time and countless headaches later on. 

When you create your resume on a computer, using a word processor or resume-creation software, save that document file, just as you would any other document. A traditional resume (one that is to be printed and then sent to potential employers), which you save on your computer s hard disk as a Microsoft Word document, for example, is different from an electronic (digital) resume that will be formatted differently, will take advantage of keywords, and will ultimately be e-mailed (not printed on paper and sent) to a potential employer.

It is also important to break larger tasks into smaller ones with their own deadlines. If you are working on a semester-long research paper for a class, for example, you are much more likely to do a better job and save yourself a lot of stress if you set some deadlines for yourself to complete the paper ... 

Perhaps the easiest form of brainstorming is listing. Jot down ideas in response to the prompt on the scratch paper in the test booklet. Don t worry about creating complete sentences—keep your ideas short, limiting them to words or phrases. You may even want to abbreviate certain words to save time. After you ve listed about a dozen ideas, link those that go together by drawing lines between them, and eliminate those that either veer off the topic or are redundant. Choose the three ideas that will be easiest to develop (ones for which you ve already come up with examples of and evidence for). 

Allen and Bevan (80) have applied the SMD technique to the study of reversible inhibitors of monoamine oxidase B, and this paper will be used as an example for discussion of the constant velocity SMD pulling method. They used the Gromacs suite of biomolecular simulation programs (18) with the united-atom Gromos 43al force field to parameterize the lipid bilayer, protein, and small-molecule inhibitors. The protein was inserted into their mixed bilayer composed of phosphatidyl choline (POPC) and phosphatidyl ethanolamine (POPE) lipids in a ratio known to be consistent for a mitochondrial membrane. Each inhibitor-bound system studied was preequilibrated in a periodic box of SPC water (20) with the simulations run using the NPT ensemble at 300 K and 1 atm pressure for 20 ns. Full atomic coordinates and velocities were saved in 200-ps increments giving five replicates for each inhibitor-bound system. If a case report form must be used, the form can be scanned or faxed into a computer system. This form is then read using optical character recognition (OCR) and converted to raw data. The accuracy of OCR applications is high, but the data must be checked to ensure quality. The OCR software can have problems with ambiguous data. For example, the letter 1 and number 1 can look the same on paper. The elimination of the data entry step saves both time and money. Careful design of the case report form and good instructions to the end user will minimize entry errors. 

The first principle in saving search time is to use fengle operations to serve multiple purposes. For example, references listed on sheets of paper can serve only one purpose, if one reference is listed right under the other. Lists on cards or sheets, with one reference per card or sheet, can serve several purposes. Abstracts can be added under each reference, and the cards can be rearranged by subject content, so that the typist can copy, entering items in the desired order on the final copy. A rearrangement of the cards by author can be used to produce an author index without extra work. 

Soft aluminium foil has a fairly low tensile and tear strength, so it is essential that very thin gauges are supported by paper or film. In general, foil of 0.025 mm and below has to be supported. For example, 0.025 mm foil laminated to 30 g/m2 LDPE is a widely used strip packaging laminate. In theory, 0.015 mm foil laminated to 30 g/m2 LDPE would be a more economical proposition. However, at this caliper any undue stretch would be likely to perforate and tear the foil. Hence it is possible to reduce the foil caliper only if support is increased, i.e. by the addition of a paper ply. Thus if cost savings are to be made the final laminate would probably be either...
