Packaging Paint

A successful factory-applied intumescent paint has been developed by the Celotex Corp. for application to acoustic board. In addition, a satisfactory package paint, Due-Tex flame-retardant paint, is available for application over old fiberboard installations, wood, etc. This product bears an Underwriters Laboratories label. [Pg.31]

Contact stabilization package paint including pumps, aeration basin, air system and secondary clarifier. PM cost 1360000 at design feed rate = 11.5 L/s with n = 0.46 for the range 4.4-90. (L+M = 1.78). [Pg.426]

The present effort attempts to facilitate this latter process by presenting in a single volume, technical discussions on various aspects of plastics of relevance to the environment. The first section of the book is intended to be an introduction to the key subject matter of plastics and environment, for those needing such an introduction. The second section explores several major applications of plastics with environmental implications packaging, paints and coatings, textiles, and agricultural film use. The next section explores the behavior of plastics in some... [Pg.781]

Finally, we would like to describe a potential real-world application of stabilized copper nanomaterials that, at present, we are studying in our laboratory. We have found that Cu NPs capped by quaternary anamonium salts can be used as nanoreservoirs for the controlled release of Cu ions, and can be used in this manner as tunable disinfecting agents. The tight control of bioactive ion release is essential when maintaining concentrations that will be efficient in terms of antimicrobial activity, yet not show toxicity towards humans [320]. This key property will surely afford interesting applications in areas such as health care, antibacterial textiles, food-packaging, paints and space exploration. [Pg.51]

Textile uses are a relatively stable area and consist of the lamination of polyester foams to textile products, usually by flame lamination or electronic heat sealing techniques. Flexible or semirigid foams are used in engineered packaging in the form of special slab material. Flexible foams are also used to make filters (reticulated foam), sponges, scmbbers, fabric softener carriers, squeegees, paint appHcators, and directly appHed foam carpet backing. [Pg.418]

The greatest amount of surfactant consumption is in packaged soaps and detergents for household and industrial use. The remainder is used in processing textiles and leather, in ore flotation and oil-drilling operations, and in the manufacture of agricultural sprays, cosmetics, elastomers, food, lubricants, paint, pharmaceuticals, and a host of other products. [Pg.368]

The characteristics of interior paints that require testing and analysis include hiding and appearance, package stabiHty, adhesion, spatter resistance, flow and leveling, color and sheen uniformity, touch-up, stain removal, burnish resistance, and block and print resistance. A popular test that assesses the wet abrasion resistance of an interior paint is to measure its scmb resistance. A mechanical device is used to scmb a paint film of a specified thickness with a standard bmsh and abrasive cleanser suspension. The number of scmb cycles (back and forth movements of the weighted bmsh) at various end points (first cut through, or 50% removal of the film) is then recorded. Scmb resistance usually holds steady or decreases slightly as PVC is increased, but drops quickly once the CPVC is exceeded in a paint formulation. [Pg.546]

These two instmments form a relatively inexpensive package that allows the characterization of a large number of materials over a wide range of viscosities and shear rates. Brookfield has also developed a digital Stormer-type viscometer (ASTM D562), Model KU-1, which is an improvement over the old manual Stormer. This low shear (- 50 ) viscometer is commonly used to test house paints. [Pg.188]

In addition to the packaging of foods and beverages in regular containers, a large quantity of tinplate is used in the form of aerosol containers for cosmetics, paint, insecticides, poHshes, and other products. Decorative trays, Hthographed boxes, and containers of unusual shape are additional oudets for tinplate. [Pg.60]

Includes paints and poHshes, antiknock and other compounds, soldering and/or welding, electrical and electronic products, mechanical products, magnetic tape, small packages, industrial diamonds, and drilling mud. [Pg.577]

Any consumer product, as the term is defined in the Consumer Rroduct Safety Act, packaged for distribution to the general public. For example, if you mix or package one-gallon cans of paint designed for use by the generai public, notification is not required. [Pg.94]

The boilers are normally dispatched to site as a packaged unit with the shell and smokeboxes fully insulated, painted, and mounted on a base frame. The combustion appliance and control panel will be fitted together with the feedwater pump, water-level controls, gauges, and a full complement of boiler valves. Additional equipment may be specified and incorporated during construction. Larger boilers may have to have certain items fitted at site due to site restriction or weight. [Pg.351]

Organic materials Corrosive vapours are sometimes emitted by organic materials used either in packaging or in the manufactured article, and may be troublesome in confined spaces. Some woods, particularly unseasoned oak and sweet chestnut, produce acetic acid (see Section 18.10), and certain polymers used in paints, adhesives and plastics may liberate such corrosive vapours as formic acid and hydrogen sulphide . It may be necessary to carry out exposure trials, particularly where materials capable of liberating formaldehyde or formic acid are involved. Most corrosion problems of this kind can be prevented by using desiccants, and in many cases they are confined to imperfectly cured materials. For an excellent review see Reference 9. [Pg.772]

Acrylics are used in floor polish, hairsprays, latex paints, and glues as well as plastic items and packaging. [Pg.237]

Polyester polyols account for only ca. 10% of the total polyol market, which is dominated by polyether polyols such as hydroxy-terminated polyoxyethylene or polyoxypropylene. Polyester polyols are preferred for applications where better mechanical properties, wear resistance, and UV stability are required. The largest application of polyester polyols is flexible specialty polyurethane foam in the furniture, packaging, and automotive industries. Polyester polyols are also used for nonfoam applications such as coatings, paints, sealants, and adhesives 47... [Pg.29]
