Operator overloaded

The two procedures named operator+ = in the Complex class declaration allow you to use the -i- = operator (the assign sum operator) to manipulate Complex numbers. (The bodies of these procedures are not shown here.) This capability, which is known as operator overloading, is primarily a notational convenience that allows manipulations of class objects to be expressed algebraically. C+-I- allows nearly all of its rich set of operators to be overloaded. The limitations of C-i-i- operator overloading are that user-defined operator overloading must involve at least one user-defined type (class) and that the standard precedence and associativity may not be altered. 

In primary size reduction, more particularly with big single-stage coarse crushers, operational reliability is best achieved by very heavy and robust design of these machines, equipped with mechanically or hydraulically operated overload protection devices to prevent damage being caused by foreign bodies that cannot be crushed. On the other hand, secondary crushers which are fed with pre-crushed rock below about 300 mm particle size can be effectively protected by magnetic separators by metal detectors. 

Motor circuit switch A switch, rated in horsepower, capable of interrupting maximum operating overload current of a motor of the same horsepower rating at rated voltage. 

Operating overload The overcurrent to which electric apparatus is subjected in the course of normal operating conditions that it may encounter. Note Maximum operating overload is considered to be 6 times normal full-load current for ac industrial motors and control apparatus and 4 to 10 times normal full-load current, respectively, for dc industrial motors and control apparatus used for reduced- or fuU-voltage starting. It should be understood that these overloads are cuirents that may persist for a very short time only, usually a matter of seconds. 

The assignment statements in the process that increment and decrement the counter value illustrate the two ways that an overloaded operator can be used. The addition operator is use like a function call and the subtraction operator is used like a standard operator. Operator overloading is discussed further in Chapter 6. 

The invisible dot will move out of the triangle if an operator overloads the lift truck. Operating with an over-capacity load and coming to a quick stop will violate the stability-triangle principle. 

A disadvantage of the relational database management system (RDBMS) might be the overload of hardware and operating systems, which make the system slower. 

The final purification steps are responsible for the removal of the last traces of impurities. The volume reduction in the earlier stages of the separation train are necessarv to ensure that these high-resolution operations are not overloaded. Generally, chromatograjmy is used in these final stages. Electrophoresis can also be used, but since it is rarely found in process-scale operations, it is not addressed here. The final product preparation may require removal of solvent and drying, or lyophihzation, of the product. 

Manual and Magnetic Starters Manual motor starters are operated by hand. The simplest type of manual starter is a snap switch with no overload protection, used only for motors of 1,492 kW (2 hp) and smaller, usually single-phase motors with integral overload protection. 

Operators are primarily concerned with stable operation and may be leeiy of altering the operation they may fear that operation will drift into a region that cannot be controlled. Supervision may be reluc tant despite their recognizing that a problem exists Any deficiencies with the operation or operating decisions is their responsibility. Permission for conducting the test from the supervisor and the operators will be required. Management cooperation will be required particularly if capital is ultimately needed. Maintenance will be called upon to make modifications to sample locations and perform a sequential pressure measurement. The laboratory personnel, discussed in detail in the next subsection, may view the unit test as an overload to available resources. These concerns must be addressed to ensure accurate sample interpretation. 

For an overload of 25%, a class B motor, operating at an ambient temperature of 45 C, the relay corresponding to 10% over temperature rise can be set to trip as follows ... 

Note To avoid unnecessary wear and lear of Ihe machine, ihe blades arc braked when ihe machine is not in operation. In fact the main protection to the iiiachinc is through the brakes only. The life of the insulation will also be affected by an excessive operating temperature. It is halved for every 11°C rise in temperature over its rated value and occurs when a machine is occasionally overloaded. Sometimes the size of the machine may be only marginal when it was initially chosen and with the passage of time, it may be required to perform duties that are too arduous. Every time the machine overheats, the insulation deteriorates, and this is called thermal ageing of insulation. Figure 9.1 illustrates an approximate reduction in life expectancy with a rise in operating temperature.
