Now we work out how each component-level action is dealt with by the object it is assigned to—in other words, we design the sequence or write the operation code so as to meet the spec. Typically, this means sending messages to other objects. 

Encapsulation is not quite as important for abstract models as for implementations. Suppose we implement a position on a surface as a class with (x, y) coordinates and provide operations for moving it, finding the distance from another position, and so on. Later, we decide it would be better, instead of (x,y), to store the position as (distance from origin, angle from x-axis). We must rewrite my operation code if I did not encapsulate my code carefully, clients that used the (x,y) variables directly would no longer work.

This would certainly have resulted in an operational library in the shortest possible time but at considerable sacrifice in efficiency. All of the VPLIB subroutines were therefore written entirely in Z80A/MVP-9500 assembly language and this produced modules which contained, on average, one third of the assembler instructions produced by F80 for the same operation coded in FORTRAN. In addition to these straightforward savings a considerable amount of hand optimization was possible on the assembler level subroutines.

The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) code is intended to provide minimum standards and universal principles for ethical marketing conduct on which national codes can be based. It is used as an operational code only in those countries (e.g. less developed countries) where no other code exists. In practice the self-regulatory national codes in developed countries are usually stricter and more detailed than the IFPMA code.

In addition to the provisions of the UK Medicines Act (1962) and European Directives, and other similar mandates, the pharmaceutical industry also carries out a measure of self-regulation through its own industry bodies. For example, in the UK, the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industries (ABPI) operates codes of practice concerning, for example, the promotion of prescription only and OTC products. 

The standard plan is structured and stored in a coded manner using operation codes (OP codes). An operation code represents a series of operations on one machine/workstation. For example, an OP code DRLIO may represent the sequence center drill, chemge drill, drill hole, change to reamer, and ream hole. A series of OP codes constitutes the representation of the standard process plan. 

This invariant states that if an occupied entry at slot rs[FU 6] has the producer address (i, (Ft/o, So)) then FU = FUq and S = So, the operation code and the target address match those of the instruction pTog[% y and the source addresses match the instructions that the two operands of prog[x[ refer to. Slot S at functional unit FU is considered occupied if rs[FU S, o = true. 

I readily admit that these motivations will cause problems if taken too far. For example, the environment probably should not be so extensible that even the network operating code is... 

The self-assembling system consists of 128 identical cells. Provided the self-repair code is still working, the system can tolerate 127 cell failures at any one time because each failed cell can copy the operating code from the one remaining cell.

Every computer has a word length that is characteristic of that machine. A computer s word length is usually determined by the size of its internal storage elements and interconnecting paths (referred to as buses), for example, a computer whose registers and buses can store and transfer 8 to 32 bits. The characteristic 8-bit field is referred to as a byte. Each operation that the processor can perform is identified by a unique binary number known as an instruction code or operation code (OP code). An 8-bit word used as an instruction code can distinguish among 256 alternative actions, more than adequate for most processors. 

The instruction fetched may then call for data to be read from data memory into the CPU. The CPU issues a read operation code and sends the proper memory address memory responds by returning the requested word. The... 

A program memory write operation is similar to a read except for the direction of data flow. The CPU issues a write operation code, sends the proper memory address, then sends the data word to be written into the addressed memory location.
