Memory address space

The architecture described above is particularly well designed to achieve the complete isolation of the monitors from the monitored apphcation. Indeed, each monitor is an independent task which can be restricted to its own memory address space, interacting with the application only through the miidtrectional communication channels implemented by the event buffers. [Pg.77]

When the device driver loads, it lets the CPU know which block of memory should be set aside for the exclusive use of the component. This prevents other devices from overwriting the information stored there. (Of course, it also sets us up for hardware conflicts since two components cannot be assigned the same address space.) Figure 4.6 shows ten instmctions divided into 4 BBs. Case (3) happens when a jump occurs with destination address as the unused memory space (between addresses 8 and the end of the memory). Case (4) happens when a jump originates and has as destination address the same memory address (addresses 0 to 0, 1 to 1, and 7 to 7, for example). [Pg.55]

The first two maintains-clauses refer to the memory resp. ownership-model of VCC. The writes-clause specifies that the destination register is written by the instruction. The last line states the postcondition of mfmsr. In this way, most of the PowerPC instructions can be handled. However, for memory and branch instructions there may be access to the kernel and user address spaces, which requires additional handling. In contrast, the left half of Fig. 1 shows a visual representation of FI campaign results that were collected injecting faults into all possible fault locations of a particular benchmark application, requiring enormous computing power using the Fail [12] FI framework with an x86 simulator backend. Parallel Computing System (PCS) is a system based on parallel processing conception that uses multiple processors which run simultaneously and operate independently. In the system each processor has its own private Internet Protocol (IP) address, memory and space to store data. The data is shared via a communication network.
