Nuevo Leon

A similar observation has been made in other countries where exhaust controls have been instituted. For example, vehicle emissions measurements made by remote sensing in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, showed that 1995 model years emitted 75% less CO, 70% less hydrocarbons, and 65% less NO compared to the pre-1991 vehicles without emission controls (Bishop et al., 1997). In Australia, emissions for pre-1986 vehicles were substantially larger than those from newer, catalyst-equipped cars, a factor of 4 for hydrocarbons, 2.5 for CO, and 2 for NO in addition, the reactivity (see Section 16.B) of the exhaust emissions... [Pg.904]

Based on the number of companies and jobs generated, the industry of electroplating in Mexico is an important sector in the economy of the country. The industry is located mainly in three areas the metropolitan zone of the city of Mexico, Jalisco and Nuevo Leon. [Pg.93]

Until June 1996 nationwide 794 registered establishments existed, 610 of which were classified as micro-companies, 138 as small companies, 29 as medium companies and 17 as large companies, based on the number of employees and the annual volume of sales. Of the total of establishments, 40% are located in the metropolitan zone of the city of Mexico, 28% in Jalisco, 19% in Nuevo Leon and 12% in the rest of the country. [Pg.93]

Regarding the personnel employed, the electroplating industry generates 13,176 jobs, 10,312 of which are contributed by the sub-sector of the micro-small-medium companies, representing 78% of the total. The large companies contribute 2,864 jobs corresponding to 22%. The regional distribution of the personnel employed is 54% in the metropolitan zone of the city of Mexico, 20% in Jalisco, 18% in Nuevo Leon and 8% in the rest of the country. [Pg.93]

The predicted distribution of anthrax in Mexico suggests that B. anthracis is present in adjoining areas where the United States has reported outbreaks in recent years [3, 4], For example, the northern region of Coahuila De Zaragoza and Nuevo Leon [82]) joins with the southwestern Texas border, where wide-spread epidemics in white-tailed deer, farmed exotic wildlife, and livestock have been frequent [12], Both sides of the border are predicted to sustain the disease. This suggests that anthrax control efforts in the United States alone are not sufficient to prevent future outbreaks or protect either Mexican or U.S. livestock or wildlife interests. [Pg.80]
