Meetings frequency

Ideally a standard cell is constmcted simply and is characterized by a high constancy of emf, a low temperature coefficient of emf, and an emf close to one volt. The Weston cell, which uses a standard cadmium sulfate electrolyte and electrodes of cadmium amalgam and a paste of mercury and mercurous sulfate, essentially meets these conditions. The voltage of the cell is 1.0183 V at 20°C. The a-c Josephson effect, which relates the frequency of a superconducting oscillator to the potential difference between two superconducting components, is used by NIST to maintain the unit of emf. The definition of the volt, however, remains as the Q/A derivation described. [Pg.20]

Experiments and even production operations can be conducted at any frequency providing the radiated and conducted signals meet the apphcable tfi limits for ISM equipment. Tests to certify this stipulation must be carried out before inception of operations. This implies weU-shielded enclosures at high power levels which is expensive but justified in certain apphcations. [Pg.338]

A very important feature of solid-state technology is energy conservation in the process of speed control. The slip losses that appear in the rotor circuit are now totally eliminated. With the application of this technology, we can change the characteristics of the motor so that the voltage and frequency are set at values just sufficient to meet the speed and power requirements of the load. The power drawn from the mains is completely utilized in doing useful work rather than appearing as stator losses, rotor slip losses or external resistance losses of the rotor circuit. [Pg.134]

Note This operating condition is, however, not specific for it does not stipulate the frequency of occurrence of such a contingency. It may be assumed that this condition will not occur more than once before thermal stability is reached. See also Section 3.7. In normal practice a motor meeting the other operating conditions noted above in all likelihood will satisfy this requirement also without needing yet another derating. See also Example 7,1. [Pg.188]

If a system disturbance requires extra generating capacity, the generator may drop speed, reducing the frequency proportionately. The under-frequency relay 81-G will detect such a condition and operate a systematic load shedding in a programmed manner in order to meet the load demand. If the abnormal condition persists, the generator is taken off the main supply system. [Pg.514]

The level of effort required for a frequency analysis is a function of the complexity of the system or process being analyzed and the level of detail required to meet the analysis objectives. Frequency analysis can typically require 25% to 50% of the total effort in a large-scale QRA study. If an uncertainty analysis is performed, the effort required for the frequency analysis can be much greater. [Pg.39]

What safety and radio frequency interference and electromagnetic interference (RFI/EMI) regulations must the system meet to be able to be sold into the target market This would affect not only the electrical design but also the physical design. [Pg.2]

I will be using an E-E eore with the neeessary Mylar tape insulating layers to meet the isolation requirements of the safety approval ageneies. At these operating frequeneies, a high-frequency core material will have to be used to minimize the core losses at 1 MHz. The material should be the K material from Magnetics, Inc, 3C85 material from Phillips, or N67 material from Siemans. [Pg.177]

Sometimes the high-frequency attenuation is insufficient to meet the specifications and a third pole needs to be added to the EMI filter. This filter is typically a differential-mode filter and will share the Y capacitors from the common-mode filter. Its corner frequency is typically the same as the commonmode filter. This filter is made up of a separate choke on each power line, and is placed between the input rectifiers and the common-mode filter. [Pg.248]

The merits of a variable-speed motor would appear to be obvious, as many compressors in the past have benefited from the variable speed available in a steam turbine. A compressor may be adjusted as required to meet the process needs. The advent of the variable-frequency drive returns some of the benefits to the process operator that were lost when the more favor able electric energy caused motors to replace steam turbines. [Pg.278]

Make sure to poll the team for its preferences as to frequency and location of group meetings. [Pg.59]

Values to use for Vj, first drum volume—L, choke-tube length, and S, choke-tube flow area—will depend primarily on physical limitations and the degree of attenuation. Attenuation will be discussed later. Generally, the first drum volume may be sized according to piston displacement and volumetric efficiency considerations with a check of the physical limitations (nonacoustic method previously described) as to the choke-tube length and the pressure drop associated with the choke-tube. If the previously mentioned considerations will meet with design requirements, a further check on band-pass frequencies and the degree of attenuation are in order. [Pg.597]

In designing the water storage capacity, account should be taken of the pattern of water usage for the premises and, where possible, to assess the likely frequency and duration of breakdown from the water authority mains. When dealing with domestic water storage, this is usually provided to meet a 24-hour demand. [Pg.25]

Site Meetings - The frequency of site meetings should be outlined and a commitment to attend any ad hoc meetings, which may be called by the client or main contractor. [Pg.86]

Week task forms should only require amending when either additional plant and equipment is introduced or the frequency of planned maintenance tasks is being adjusted to meet revised operational or maintenance demands. Departments in which work is to be carried out may be issued a copy of their department s week tasks four weeks in advance. This then enables them to program their operation, where necessary, so that the maintenance work can be carried out without disruption to the department s output. Alternatively, on receipt of this prior notice the departmental head can contact the engineer controlling the work to discuss departmental matters that may affect the proposed planned maintenance. This may, in some instances, require the engineer to reschedule the planned maintenance programmed for that department. [Pg.787]

Water treatment technical service representatives must develop relationships with boiler plant operators and managers and formally meet on a periodic basis so that all involved understand what must be achieved and work in concert toward reaching common, agreed-upon objectives. The frequency of meetings depends on the size of the boiler plant, but essentially, informal communications should take place (up and down the line) very regularly, with a formal program review taking place perhaps every three to four months. [Pg.126]

Such approximation is valid when the thickness of the polymeric layer is small compared to die thickness of die crystal, and the measured frequency change is small with respect to the resonant frequency of the unloaded crystal. Mass changes up to 0.05% of die crystal mass commonly meet this approximation. In die absence of molecular specificity, EQCM cannot be used for molecular-level characterization of surfaces. Electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance devices also hold promise for the task of affinity-based chemical sensing, as they allow simultaneous measurements of both tile mass and die current. The principles and capabilities of EQCM have been reviewed (67,68). The combination of EQCM widi scanning electrochemical microscopy has also been reported recently for studying die dissolution and etching of various thin films (69). The recent development of a multichannel quartz crystal microbalance (70), based on arrays of resonators, should further enhance die scope and power of EQCM. [Pg.54]

Mutual expectations were brought to the surface and discussed. Furthermore, the expectations of the program co-ordinators were also explained, which included topics such as the frequency and duration of meetings. In this respect, 2-hour sessions once a month were deemed appropriate. [Pg.55]
