Precision is a measure of the spread of data about a central value and may be expressed as the range, the standard deviation, or the variance. Precision is commonly divided into two categories repeatability and reproducibility. Repeatability is the precision obtained when all measurements are made by the same analyst during a single period of laboratory work, using the same solutions and equipment. Reproducibility, on the other hand, is the precision obtained under any other set of conditions, including that between analysts, or between laboratory sessions for a single analyst. Subdivision or discretization of the flow domain into cells or elements. There are methods, called boundary element methods, in which the surface of the flow domain, rather than the volume, is discretized, but the vast majority of CFD work uses volume discretization. Discretization produces a set of grid lines or cuives which define a mesh and a set of nodes at which the flow variables are to be calculated. The equations of motion are solved approximately on a domain defined by the grid. The basic phenomenon was observed in modeling studies by Bjoreskov and Slinko (1965) that sudden increase in inlet temperature caused a transient drop of the peak temperature. The wrong-way response name was given by Mechta et al (1981) after they experienced the opposite a sudden of inlet temperature resulted in an increase of the peak temperature (which may eventually cause a runaway.) The work used a pseudo-homogeneous reaction model and explained the phenomenon by the different speeds of transient response in gas and solid. Polystyrene (PS) is the fourth big-volume thermoplastic. Styrene can be polymerized alone or copolymerized with other monomers. It can be polymerized by free radical initiators or using coordination catalysts. Recent work using group 4 metallocene combined with methylalumi-noxane produce stereoregular polymer. When homogeneous titanium catalyst is used, the polymer was predominantly syndiotactic. The heterogeneous titanium catalyst gave predominantly the isotactic. The chapter by Haynes et al. describes the pilot work using Raney nickel catalysts with gas recycle for reactor temperature control. Gas recycle provides dilution of the carbon oxides in the feed gas to the methanator, hence simulating methanation of dilute CO-containing gases which under adiabatic conditions gives a permissible temperature rise.
