Locations attitude

Every location has advantages and disadvantages that impact on the operating costs. Data must be collected for the proposed site and used to adjust historical data to get a proper estimate. Such costs as transportation, labor, and purchased utilities can be determined. However, such items as operating labor productivity, local customs, weather, and local management attitudes can only be estimated.

A prospective location may appear to be right in all other respects but fails because of the manpower resource. This refers to not only the economic aspects such as the availability of labor and skills but also to the qualitative ones of being able to understand the local culture and customs, appreciation of people s attitudes and values. It also refers to the confidence in the ability to blend these with the culture and aspirations of the company to form a cohesive production unit that will work. A successful processing concept in one cultural environment may not be a success in another.

The joint result of these three factors was that, by the 1960s, Americans had adopted an attitude about solid wastes quite different from that of their 1900 forebears. They were consuming a much larger volume of materials, most of which were not naturally biodegradable, that were simply being dumped in the most convenient locations in open dumps, landfills, large lakes, or the oceans. 

To determine how best to present green chemistry to students, it would be best to look at attitudes. A study reports on the relationship between attitudinal factors and student academic success in first-year chemistry courses. The study includes a comparison of attitudes toward chemistry of first-year medical students at two universities. Students from these two institutions differ considerably with respect to educational backgrounds. In the investigation, attitudes toward science (particularly chemistry) were correlated not only with students academic achievement, but also with personal demographic data, such as matriculation results, parents educational level, and location of high school. The students responses to an opinion survey suggest a substantial relationship between attitudes and academic achievement. The results also suggest that academic achievement in chemistry is more dependent on attitudes toward science than aptitudes of students (Cukrowska et al., 1999). 

A Pre-Audit Safety Awareness Survey, distributed through line management, asks employees about their knowledge of and attitude toward the location s safety and loss prevention programs. 

Finally, attitudes are changing in the UK as to how the process industries perceive ownership of ion exchange plant especially for the provision of essential services, such as steam, power, and process water. Serious thought is being given to purchasing services from a plant built, owned, maintained, and operated by others either on or off site. This concept is already well established in the privatized power industry and to extend this practice to include process steam and water is a commercial consideration only. I am grateful to Ron Aminzade for sending me the explanatory notes (mem-oires) meant to accompany two of the maps the military officials had prepared as part of this haute reconnaissance in the city of Toulouse in 1843. Public opposition to new landfills as displayed by the not in my backyard attitude can be attributed to past problems with older landfills. A noteworthy indication of the variance in public attitudes toward plasma arc is that in one case, after careful consideration, the Assembled Chemical Weapons Assessment program Dialogue Group accepted plasma arc as a valid alternative to incineration. However, in contrast with this, a spokesperson for the Non-Stockpile Chemical Weapons Citizens Coalition characterized plasma arc as a synonym for incineration and expressed concern that NSCMP was prematurely embracing the technology. As with incineration, the degree of public concern about plasma arc may vary with specific implementation and specific location (NRC, 2002).
