Lemon petitgrain

On a commercial basis, lemon Petitgrain oil is produced from citrus leaves in Italy. In contrast to other Petitgrain oils, its composition resembles more to the peel oil of the corresponding fruits. The main constituents are limonene (app. 30%), P-pinene (10-20%) and citral (15-28%) [104, 109-114]. [Pg.209]

Mondello et al. (54) have developed some applications of on-line HPLC-HRGC and HPLC-HRGC/MS in the analysis of citrus essential oils. In particular, they used LC-GC to determine the enantiomeric ratios of monoterpene alcohols in lemon, mandarin, bitter orange and sweet orange oils. LC-GC/MS was used to study the composition of the most common citrus peel, citrus leaf (petitgrain) and flower (neroli) oils. The oils were separated into two fractions, i.e. mono- and sesquiterpene... [Pg.236]

Linalyl acetate is the principal constituent of the essential oils of bergamot, clary sage, lavender and lavandin. It is also present in the essential oils of Salvia officinalis, petitgrain, sassafras, neroli, lemon, lime, a few Mentha species and others. [Pg.171]

Reminiscent of an earlier style of formulation, Femme contains a relatively high proportion of fresh top notes based on bergamot and lemon, as well as petitgrain citronnier. At the heart of the underlying chypre accord is a fruity jasmin note (a jasmin benzol type may here be used), oakmoss, methyl ionone, patchouli, and labdanum, with small amounts of woody materials. The fruity note in Femme is probably introduced in the form of a base, such as the famous Prunol of de Laire, containing aldehyde C14. The underlying warmth comes from... [Pg.126]

This is when an oil is substituted with a cheaper oil, e.g. petitgrain for neroli, or lemongrass for lemon verbena. [Pg.88]

An interesting variability is observed in plants from Rutaceae family. In bergamot (Citrus auranthium Bergamia), neroli and petitgrain (Citrus auranhtium ssp. amara), and lime oils (Citrus aurantifolia) the prevalence of (-)-linalool has been found. In orange (Citrus sinensis) and tangerine (Citrus reticulata) (+)-linalool is the dominant enantiomer, while in lemon (Citrus limon) and grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) the enantiomeric ratio of linalool is close to racemate [31,40]. [Pg.375]

The Petitgrain oils of the citrus varieties mandarin (Citrus reticulata Blanco) and lemon (Citrus limon (L.) Burm.) are also commercially available, but to a far lesser extent than for bitter orange. Mandarin Petitgrain oil is characterised by its unique sensory impact, which apart from y-terpinene (20-25%) results from its high content of methyl N-methylanthranilate (40-50%) [106-108]. [Pg.209]

The hyphenation of LC-GC systems to mass spectrometric detectors has also been reported for the analyses of neroli [142], bitter and sweet oranges, lemon, and petitgrain mandarin oils [143]. It has to be highlighted that the preliminary LC separation, which reduces mutual component interference, greatly simpli es MS identi cation. [Pg.221]
