Lamination/coating

Flexible Packaging. Flexible packaging is composed of both single- and multilayer stmctures. The latter may be further subdivided into laminated, coated, and coextmded, or combinations of these. [Pg.453]

The thermal stabiUty of epoxy phenol—novolak resins is useful in adhesives, stmctural and electrical laminates, coatings, castings, and encapsulations for elevated temperature service (Table 3). Filament-wound pipe and storage tanks, liners for pumps and other chemical process equipment, and corrosion-resistant coatings are typical appHcations using the chemically resistant properties of epoxy novolak resins. [Pg.364]

Flexible polyetherpolyurethane foams are used in cushions, upholstery, etc. While polyester based foams are used in textile laminates, coat shoulder pads, etc. Polyester foams can withstand drycleaning. [Pg.203]

An intriguing recent development has been the discovery that porous ceramic monoliths (fabricated for use as catalyst supports) can be lamination-coated with microporous or ultramicroporous barrier layers to yield high-area membrane modules [58]. It is reducing fabrication costs of ceramic membrane devices to levels comparable to (or less than) those of polymeric membrane devices, and it opens the door to development of large-area laminate devices with utility for particulate, macromolecular, or smaU-molecule separations. [Pg.407]

It could or perhaps should be concluded from this background that the majority of pharmaceutical products could, with the rapidly expanding technology of today, be packed in one of the plastics available. In the ultimate choice the question may not be what is the ideal plastic to choose but what is the best combination of materials. This may include several layers of different plastics (e.g. coextrusions), laminations, coated plastics, or a low-cost material enclosed in one or more overwraps . [Pg.187]

The base-catalyzed reaction of an epoxy resin with the phenolic resin produces a cross-linked polyether structure that is resistant to chemicals and heat and is a good moisture vapor barrier. Since the curing mechanism does not produce byproducts, thick sections may be obtained without voids and low shrinkage. Applications that employ the advantages of epoxy-phenolic formulations Include molding materials, laminates, coatings, and adhesives. [Pg.1151]
