Products. Damping treatments are available from many manufacturers in sheet form, as tapes for adhering to a surface, and in bulk form for spraying or troweling onto a surface. Laminated glass is available from many glass suppHers (see Laminated materials, glass). [Pg.321]

Most laminated glass appHcations are concerned with impact strength, and minimum performance levels are required by specification. The impact strength of two pHes of laminated, aimealed glass and various PVB thicknesses are available (4). Aircraft laminates may utilise electrical resistance heating as deicing for vision enhancement. [Pg.524]

Laminated glass is used for solar control, particularly where a highly reflective surface is not desired and where the laminate contributes other benefits. In these applications, a uniformly pigmented interlayer is obtained from the manufacturer and the laminate can be prepared by the conventional process. Broad ranges of colors and transmission levels are available with shading coefficients as low as 0.41. Pigmented interlayer is considered to be more... [Pg.528]

All laminated glass iacreases the level of secutity to some extent. However, depending on the appHcation, secutity glass is constmcted of multiple layers of glass, PVB, polycarbonate, polyurethane, or other polymer matenals. Laminated glass permits the same visual observation as normal glass but prevents or delays unauthorized entry (or exit) until the attempt can be detected. It complies with test UL 972 (38). [Pg.529]

Laminates. Two or more layers of material bonded together form a laminated composite. Common examples of laminates are in automobile windshields (laminated glass) and bimetal thermostats (9). In both cases homogeneous, isotropic layers of materials are bonded together to form nonhomogeneous composite laminates (see Laminates). [Pg.3]

Laminated composite materials consist of layers of at least two different materials that are bonded together. Lamination is used to combine the best aspects of the constituent layers and bonding material in order to achieve a more useful material. The properties that can be emphasized by lamination are strength, stiffness, low weight, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, beauty or attractiveness, thermal insulation, acoustical insulation, etc. Such claims are best represented by the examples in the following paragraphs in which bimetals, clad metals, laminated glass, plastic-based laminates, and laminated fibrous composite materials are described. [Pg.6]

A small amount of a Polyfvinyl butyral) solution is spread on a glass plate and evaporated slowly to create a thin film. Then the breaking behavior of the laminated glass plate is determined. Polyfvinyl butyral) foils are used for the manufacture of safety glass, for example, windshields in cars. [Pg.338]
