The FDA has been interested in Web enablement of computer apphcations. Several inspections questioned client controls for intranet and Internet access. The FDA also appears to be looking more critically at distribution systems for pharmaceutical and healthcare products. The MHRA has noted that validation requirements for distribution systems are generally not well understood and consequently the vahdation of these systems is often deficient. Distribution systems are vital components of the supply chain and companies should address their validation accordingly. A server located in a centralized place shall contain major information. It shall contain all the fields in the structure, but with or without full text of reports. Underground cable plans are dealt with under Regulation 36. This is an important provision in the context of reducing the number of occurrences of underground cables being struck. While true parallel and multi-processor computers use much faster connections than IP protocol lines for internal communication, it is possible to simulate such systems using the Internet. The second type is the WAN (wide area network) installation. In this setup the LIMS take advantage of telecommunication technology to cover a great distance.
