International Council of Chemical Association

The eChemPortal is an effort of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in collaboration with the European Commission, the United States, Canada, lapan, the International Council of Chemical Associations, the Business and Industry Advisory Committee, the World Health Organization s International Program on Chemical Safety, the United Nations Environment Programme on Chemicals and environmental non-governmental organizations. 

The International Council of Chemical Associations—made up of the American Chemistry Council, the European Chemical Industry Council, and the Japan Chemical Industry Association—is the global coordinator of the Long-Range Research Initiative (LRI), a research program that funds research in the effects of chemicals on human health and the environment (LRI 2001).

Current International Audit Programs. Currently, the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) does not endorse a single method of Responsible Care implementation. Nor does it require or endorse a single method to audit Responsible Care .

The Responsible Care Status Report 2008 published by the International Council of Chemical Associations lists 2,421 distribution incidents (accidental chemical releases during transport of goods by various means) in 26 (out of 53) countries in 2006. The report showed a general decline in the number of incidents since 2001, when there were 3,827 incidents reported. In the same period, there was a 15 percent increase in materials distributed. ...

With respect to the product stewardship goal of amassing and sharing hazard information, the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) has also noted the contribution of ACC companies, which are all participants in Responsible Care, to the HPV data-gathering effort in the United States [157]. 

With the financial support of the EU, the Industry and Protection Forum was organised in association with the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) and the European Chemistry Council (CEFIC). It brought together representatives from the chemical industry, government, international organisations. National Authorities, national laboratories and agencies, academia, and other institutions that work in the dilFerent fields (verification, assistance and protection, and the safety and security of chemical weapons) that formed the focus of this Forum.
