Single-jet method

Three basic methods have generally been employed in the precipitation of silver, glides single-jet, double-jet, and continuous (Figure 1). In the single-jet method, the silver... [Pg.81]

There are three jet grouting systems in common use. These are the single jet or monofluid system, the two fluid, and the three fluid systems. All systems require the placement of the jet pipe to the bottom of the depth to be treated. This is done using conventional drilling methods appropriate for the soil being treated. Depths of 150 feet have been successfully treated, and greater depths are possible under certain conditions. Any soil in which the jet pipe can be placed can be successfully treated. Adverse condition include soil deposits which contain large amounts of boulders. [Pg.136]

Chemical contaminants may bind to and react with keratin proteins in the stratum comeum of the skin in occupational exposures under field conditions. The tapestripping method was successfully applied for the removal and quantification of keratin from the stratum comeum for normahzation of extracted amoimts of naphthalene (marker hydrocarbon of jet fuel) from human volimteers experimentally exposed to JP-8 jet fuel (Chao and Nylander-French, 2004). Another study indicated that the naphthalene has a short retention time in the human stratum comeum, and that the tape-stripping method, if used within 20 min of the initial exposure, can be used to determine the amoimt of naphthalene initially in the stratum comeum following a single jet fuel exposure (Mattorano et al., 2004). These studies emphasized... [Pg.57]

Another type of investigations showing the maldistribution of the liquid phase is the determination of the holdup distribution using die gamma tomography method [141]. The eiqieriments are carried out with metal Pall ring 24.4 mm in a 600 mm diameter column. Ihree types of liquid distributors are used. The first two are presented schematically in Fig. 5. Tire thud (point source inlet) feeds the liquid as a single jet in the centre of the column cross-section. [Pg.545]
