Hazardous Chemical Inventory

To protect yourself from hazardous chemicals you must first know what chemicals are in the workplace. This is why your employer is required to maintain a list of hazardous chemicals called the Chemical Inventory. 

The inventory is part of the written hazard communication program, and will eventually sen/e as the list of all chemicals for which there must be an SDS available. 

The list can be compiled for the workplace as a whole or for individual work areas. 

The chemical inventory should reference chemicals using the name found on the container label and on the SDS. All three 

Preparing this list may help your employer to determine where less hazardous chemicals can be substituted, or if chemicals which are not being used anymore can be eliminated from the inventory altogether.

A similar report is required of any facility with MSDS requirements under OSHA for hazardous chemicals. It must submit one of two different emergency and hazardous chemical inventory forms.
