Framework Programme Technological

HarmonHy (2006). HarmonHy Harmonization of Regulations, Codes and Standards for a Sustainable Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology. Support Action funded by the European Commission under the 6th Framework Programme. www.harmonhy.com. 

The main EU funding instruments for research, technological development and demonstration are the Framework Programmes (FP), which are implemented mainly by calls for proposals. The FP5 is well advanced and about to be completed, and the FP6 is currently taking place. 

Water research has been a major component of snccessive Enropean Commission research Framework Programmes, primarily in the enviromnent field, but also in other areas like agriculture, industrial technologies and international cooperation. EC-funded... 

Earlier Framework Programmes were focused on the development of the scientific knowledge to support enviromnental quality standards and objectives, and on the development of technologies for end-of-pipe treatment. 

This recently-established, multi-component database is available through ECHO, the European Communities Host. It holds details of Cbmmunity Research and Technological (RTD) activities, especially those included in the EC s R D Framework Programme. Details of reports listed in European Abstracts (EARS) form part of CORDIS in addition to being available in printed format.

As a final note, the FRP-ConstruNet initiative sponsored by EU into the 6th Framework Programme Network must be mentioned, which is created under the construction industry initiative and it is technological, commercial - scientific and technologically oriented.

The main objective of COST Action 637 is to stimulate better control of metals in drinking water and to minimise environmental and health impacts. The Action aims to contribute to the implementation of the European Drinking Water Directive and to the Environment and Health programme of the EU Commission and the UNAVHO Protocol on Water and Health. The Joint Research Centre of the European Commission provides scientific input in the COST Action but is also the link to the European Commission. COST stands for European Cooperation in Science and Technology and is the oldest and widest European inter-governmental network for cooperation in research. COST is supported by the EU RTD Framework programme (www.cost.esf.org).
