European Abstracts

The following is adapted from a Chemical and Engineering News report of the 75th anniversary of the first issue of CA, January 1, 1907. CA came into being primarily because U.S. chemists felt that European abstracting journals were neglecting U.S, chemical research. [Pg.1366]

This recently-established, multi-component database is available through ECHO, the European Communities Host. It holds details of Cbmmunity Research and Technological (RTD) activities, especially those included in the EC s R D Framework Programme. Details of reports listed in European Abstracts (EARS) form part of CORDIS in addition to being available in printed format. [Pg.71]

Most new patent cases of interest are pubHshed by at least one of the U.S., European, or Japanese patent offices, and WIPO (PCT). Japan presents problems for those not able to read Japanese, but the U.S. Official Ga tte (with representative claims) and PCT Ga tte (with English-language abstracts) can be in one s hands within a week of patent pubHcation. Similar timing is available for the European Patent Office bulletin which contains trilingual tides and the on-line EPAT file and various CD-ROM products. A highly effective alerting program can be developed from a combination of these methods. [Pg.58]

End of Abstract Nowadays, the Diesel vehicles market in Western Europe keeps growing. Diesel technology is of interest for car manufacturers because the Greenhouse gas emissions are noticeably lower with Diesel than with gasoline (do not forget the ACEA1 commitment for 2008 140 g/km of C02 for the new cars sold in European Union). A major issue for the Diesel vehicles is to clean-up HC, CO, NO and soot particles released by the engine at a minimum cost. [Pg.212]
