Educational failure

Nuclear scientists have tried very hard to get these points to the public by submitting articles for publication in magazines. I managed to get articles in lower-tier magazines like Family-Health, Commentary, National Review, Catholic Digest, Reason, Consumer Reports, American Legion Magazine, but all my submissions to top-tier publications were rejected. To this day, none of these risk comparisons has been presented to the vast majority of the public, and the responsibility for this educational failure lies with the media. 

Early onset of drug abuse is associated with early sexual activity, crime, and educational failure. Young amphetamine users risk exploitation by adults and are more likely to become involved in criminal or violent behavior and prostitution—having to resort to sex for survival. Consequently, they are also more likely to become infected with HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases and by tuberculosis or other bacterial, fungal, or viral infections. Chronic amphetamine abusers are also more at risk for mental and emotional disorders including anxiety, phobias, and depression. They are at higher risk of suicide. 

Despite the attractions of economic forces driving environmental protection, some cautions and failures have been noted. Firstly, the export of hazardous waste to countries where costs for treatment are lower enhances environmental risks during transport and has the potential for transboundary export in the event of pollution. At the same time, the loss of raw material may deprive the home market of an adequate supply of feedstock for the home-based industry. Secondly, there is considerable scepticism that self-regulation of TBT-based antifoulants could be achieved in a timely manner by the shipping industry. This is an instance where the cost benehts to one industry are born by another commercial sector, notably aquaculture. Thus, protection of the marine environment is likely to be aided by economic factors but the role of government, via taxation and standard setting, is not likely to be usurped. Public education and, in turn, pressure, can promote and support corporate environmentalism.

Administrative representatives are often shy about developing water reuse projects. Most, if not all, textbooks and courses of QM proceed in a similar axiomatic way. At the end of the introduction to QM, most, if not all, students are confused. It takes a long time, several advanced courses, graduate school and often more to master QM. It is ironic that current masters of QM also internalize the paradigm of QM instruction that initially confused and frustrated them, and thus instruct new students in the same way. As a result, those students who take QM as part of a general education and not as the first step of a career in Physics, are left confused forever. I believe this constitutes a failure of the Physics community to communicate to humanity its most precious, successful and beautiful accomplishment. 

At the same time, an educational effort should accompany the use of log P/log D by putting the data in proper perspective for the user and undertaking an analysis of failures to gain potential new insight on when the answer is the answer. This is, of course, a paradigm to ensure quality and successful application of data, not limited to log P/log D. 

The treatment staff must be aware of countertransference issues, and anticipate relapses and failures. For both patient and staff, it helps to define and accept limited goals. Appropriate security measures are necessary, so that staff can feel safe also, staff need to be educated about not taking unnecessary risks in handling these patients. Staff frustration has to be recognized and managed.

Provide patient education with regard to appropriate use of antimicrobials (e.g., dose, interval), adverse effects, and drug interactions (which may play a role in therapy failure and increased toxicity). 

Treatment considerations for antiretroviral-experienced patients are much more complex than for patients who are naive to therapy. Prior to changing therapy, the reasons for treatment failure should be identified. A comprehensive review of the patient s severity of disease, antiretroviral treatment history, adherence to therapy, intolerance or toxicity, concomitant drug therapies, co-morbidities, and results of current and past HIV resistance testing should be performed. If patients fail therapy due to poor adherence, the underlying reasons must be determined and addressed prior to initiation of new therapy. Reasons for poor adherence include problems with medication access, active substance abuse, depression and/or denial of the disease, and a lack of education on the importance of 100%... 

Clinicians should play a role in chemotherapy safety, patient education, and monitoring patient response to therapy. For example, cumulative doses of anthracyclines should be monitored along with signs and symptoms of heart failure. Clinicians also should monitor concurrent medications along with chemotherapy for drug interactions.
