Dan Sliva was the CCPS staff liaison and was responsible for overall administration of the project. AntiEntropics, Inc. of New Market, Maryland, was contracted to provide editing services for this book. Sandra A. Baker and Robert Walter were the principal technical editors. CCPS would like to thank Mr. Ludwig Benner for providing historical perspective on MES information. CCPS would also like to thank Ms. Angella Lewis of Rohm and Haas Company for her timely graphics support. [Pg.458]

On a cold, f = —3°F, late winter day in Kazakhstan, Cyril Bond checks the pressure in the front left tire on his Aston Martin-Hyundai Accent (special edition) service car and finds that it reads only 17 pounds per square inch, psi. After consulting with Nurudin, a garage attendant, Cyril asks him to add more air, until the pressure gauge reads 2.3 kg/cm, or atmosphere," atm (Nurudin is using a metric pressure gauge). [Pg.12]

Ms. Kirk is a highly experienced editor. Prior to founding her own editing service, she was a technical editor at the U.S. Forest Products Laboratory, where she edited scientific papers for submission to over 60 different journals. The JME Editor is a Java program which allows one to draw, edit, and display molecules and reactions directly within a web page and may also be used as an application in a stand-alone mode. The editor was originally developed for use in an in-house web-based chemoinformatics system but because of many requests it was released to the public. The JME currently is probably the most popular molecule entry system written in Java. Internet sites that use the JME applet include several structure databases, property prediction services, various chemoinformatics tools (such as for generation of 3D structures or molecular orbital visualization), and interactive sites focused on chemistry education [209]. [Pg.144]

Quite naturally there is a certain amount of arbitrariness in this system, although the lUPAC nomenclature is followed. The preferred Chemical Abstracts index names for chemical substances have been, with very few exceptions, continued unchanged (since 1972) as set forth in the Ninth Collective Index Guide and in a journal article. Any revisions appear in the updated Index Guide new editions appear at 18-month intervals. Appendix VI is of particular interest to chemists. Reprints of the Appendix may be purchased from Chemical Abstracts Service, Marketing Division, P.O. Box 3012, Columbus, Ohio 43210. [Pg.50]

The dry helical lobe rotary compressors nonlubricated cylinder types of compressors are used for injecting of the fuel in gas turbines at the high pressure needed. The gas turbine application requires that the compressor be dry. This standard is primarily intended for compressors that are in special purpose application and covers the minimum requirements for dry helical lobe rotary compressors used for vacuum, pressure, or both in petroleum, chemical, and gas industry services. This edition also includes a new inspector s checklist and new schematics for general purpose and typical oil systems. [Pg.154]
