Design Code definitions

P(l) The definitions specific to connection design in this EUROCOMP Design Code, in addition to those given in 1.4, are listed below. 

P(l) Definitions for the joining techniques used for bonded Joints in this EUROCOMP Design Code are given in 1.4.2 and 5.1. 

The definitions given in the EUROCOMP Design Code relating to connection design are based on or taken from References 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5. Some of the definitions have been developed specifically for the EUROCOMP Design Code. 

Tables like 5.1 and 5.2 of the EUROCOMP Design Code may assist the designer in the selection. It should be noted that these tables can only provide information on typical properties or typical behaviour of different joints. As the information has to be simplified using expressions like yes and no , one has to realise the informative nature of these tables and not to consider them as definitive statements.

The static design pressure of the cylinder is derived based on the plastic limit load of the vessel using the von Mises criterion [10] and a design margin of 1.732 [11]. It is important to acknovrledge that this is only one of several possible design pressure definitions and for any specific case the applicable pressure design code must be consulted [10]. 

The most common approach for the definition of the seismic input is the use of a design code response spectmm which is created for a certain return period of earthquake hazard. This is a general approach, which is easy to implement for conventional buildings. Moreover, if higher precision is required, the use of spectra derived from suitable earthquake records is more appropriate. Note that significant dispersion on the stmctural response due to the use of different records even scaled to the same earthquake intensity can be observed, since ground motions with equal peak ground acceleration (PGA) but different frequency content can have very different demands upon a stmcture.

Pressure Relief Valves Definitions for pressure relief valves, relief valves, pilot-operated pressure relief valves and safety v alves, are found in the ASVIE Boiler and Pressure Assel Code, Section Division 1, Rules for Construction of Pressure Assels, Paragraphs UC-125 and UC-126, The pressure-relief valve is an automatic pressure relieving device designed to open when normal conditions are exceeded and to close again when normal conditions are restored. Within this class there are relief valves, pilot operated pressure relief valves, and safety valves.

The data on the epidemiology of anaphylaxis are widely varying estimates on the frequency of this condition. The findings are based on diverse study designs and are often not comparable. A clear conclusion from the data published so far is difficult. One major reason is that there is no universal consensus regarding the definition of anaphylaxis. The International Classification Codes (ICD) recording anaphylaxis are imprecise and do not properly reflect the epidemiological needs. 

A generic definition provides a family of specific definitions. For example, in C++, a template class SortedList could be defined in which everything common to the code for all linked lists is programmed in terms of the placeholder class Item. When the designer requires a SortedList, the compiler creates and compiles a copy of the template, with Item replaced by Phone. 

In a joint action, some of the parameters may be distinguished as participants and drawn linked to the use case pictorially, whereas other parameters are written in text style. For example, in Figure 4.5, buyer and vendor are participants, whereas item is a parameter. In business analysis, the difference is a matter of convenience and is analogous to the equivalence of the associations and attributes of object types. In a software design, the participants can be used to represent objects that we know will definitely exist in the final code and that will, between them, take responsibility for executing the action. The list of parameters, on the other hand, represents information transferred between them whose implementation is yet to be determined. 

The design of support structures (not covered by this Code) and of supporting elements (see definitions of piping and pipe-supporting elements in para. GR-1.5) shall be based on all concurrently acting loads transmitted into such supports. These loads, defined in para. IP-2.1, include weight effects, loads introduced by service pressures and temperatures, vibration, wind, earthquake, shock, and displacement strain [see para. IP-6.1.3(a)]. 

The definition of promotion under the Code is broad and is designed to encompass any activity undertaken by a pharmaceutical company or with its authority that promotes the prescription, supply, sales or administration of its medicines. Within that definition, there are a number of exclusions from the scope of the Code such as trade practices and trade advertisements. The content of data sheets and SPCs is also excluded from the scope of the Code, as they are documents... 

The code also excludes piping systems designed for internal gauge pressures at or above zero but less than 0.105 MPa (15 Ibf/inU provided the fluid handled is nonflammable, nontoxic, and not damaging to human tissues, and its design temperature is from -29 C (-20 F) through 186 C (366 F). Most firms today start by qualifying each subsystem. To qualify, of course, means to establish convincing evidence that something happens as intended, which matches the validation definition (in more explicit terms, however). Installation qualification may be defined as documented verification that all key aspects of the installation adhere to manufacturer s recommendations, appropriate codes, and approved design intentions. Operational qualification is documented verification that a system or subsystem performs as intended throughout all specified operating ranges.
