Design static

The test pressure for class A ductwork should not exceed 1000 Pa or the maximum design static pressure, whichever is smaller. [Pg.789]

In the design of a static-control system, parameters such as capacitance of the personnel, maximum anticipated potential static buildup, and the time to discharge the personnel to safe levels should be known for the model. This is also true when designing static discharge systems for containers entering static protected environments. Such containers should be discharged to safe levels prior to entering the protected space. [Pg.183]

Maintenance of a stable emulsion in the continuous metering system s total product flow is critical for an efficient margarine production and is achieved through the use of specially designed static in-line mixers. These are installed in the main pipelines downstream of the metering system as can be seen from Figure 27. [Pg.2908]

Figure 14.8 Basic diffusion cell designs. Static horizontal cells may be jacketed [as in the Franz-type) or unjacketed [and temperature controlled using water bath or heating block). Flow-through cells usually have a small receptor chamber to maximize mixing. Side-by-side cells are used mainly for solution vehicles. Figure 14.8 Basic diffusion cell designs. Once a vessel has been designed statically, it is necessary to determine if the vessel is susceptible to wind-induced vibration. Historically, the rule of thumb was to do a dynamic wind check only if the vessel L/D ratio exceeded 15 and the POV was greater than 0.4 seconds. This criterion has proven to be unconservative for a number of applications. In addition, if the critical wind velocity, V,., is greater than 50 mph, then no further investigation is required. Wind speeds in excess of 50 mph always contain gusts that will disrupt uniform vortex shedding. [Pg.245]

Another dynamic method of evaluating the static load capacity of deep foundations is to install instruments on the foundation and use them to monitor load and settlement data obtained while the foundation is subjected to a dynamic impact load. This measured response to dynamic loads can then be used to develop design static load capacities. [Pg.181]

Fiber reinforced thermosetting polymer composites have been used in the form of laminate, sandwich, grid stiffened, stitched, Z-pinned, three-dimensional (3-D) woven fabric, and hybrid structures. In addition to carrying the designed static/dynamic loads, most composite stmcmres experience some kind of low or high velocity impact incidents during their life cycle. A low velocity impact is not uncommon. For example, dropping a tool on to a composite stmcmre... [Pg.3]

While the word design is defined generally as obtaining a structure which can carry out the required behavior, we can say the first step of design must be to refine the required behavior and make the design static. This generalizes the designer s desire to make the circuit as small as possible. [Pg.215]
