Defining the Method

The goals or requirements of the HPLC method that needs to be developed should be known as well as the analytical figures of merit, which include the required detection limits, selectivity, linearity, range, and accuracy and precision. [Pg.360]

The potential use of this method needs to be considered if any regulatory requirements are to be met, if the method is used to analyze multiple samples, or if the method will be eventually transferred to the production site. Some other additional requirements may include sample throughput, analysis time, and instrument limitations. [Pg.360]

In such tables, typical chemical shifts are assigned to standard structure fragments (e.g., protons in a benzene ring). Substituents in these blocks (e.g., substituents in ortho, meta, or para positions) are assumed to make independent additive contributions to the chemical shift. These additive contributions are listed in a second series of tables. Once the tables are defined, the method is easy to implement, does not require databases, and is extremely fast. Predictions for a molecule with 50 atoms can be made in less than a second. On the other hand, it requires that the parent structure and the substituents are tabulated, and it considers no interaction... [Pg.522]

Note that filter aid selection must be based on planned laboratory tests. Guidelines for selection may only be applied in the broadest sense, since there is almost an infinite number of combinations of filter media, filter aids, and suspensions that will produce varying degrees of separation. The hydrodynamics of any filtration process are highly complex filtration is essentially a multiphase system in which interaction takes place between solids from the suspension, filter aid, and filter medium, and a liquid phase. Experiments are mandatory in most operations not only in proper filter aid selection but in defining the method of application. Some general guidelines can be applied to such studies the filter aid must have the minimum hydraulic resistance and provide the desired rate of separation an insufficient amount of filter aid leads to a reduction in filtrate quality — excess amounts result in losses is filtration rate and it is necessary to account for the method of application and characteristics of filter aids. [Pg.114]

Define the methods to be used to produce the product either directly or by reference to separate instructions. [Pg.348]

However just stating these objectives will not make it happen nor will it provide the means of measuring the success of the program. Establish specific objectives, i.e. reduce un-scheduled maintenance by 20 per cent, or increase production capacity by 15 per cent. In addition to quantifying the expected goals, define the methods that will be used to accomplish each objective and the means that can be used to measure the actual results. [Pg.809]

The regulation states The report must be reviewed with all affected personnel whose job tasks are relevant to the incident findings, including contract employees where applicable. The aim of this clause is to ensure that all affected employees understand why the incident occurred and what actions could prevent a recurrence. While the regulation does not specifically define the methods to comply with this requirement, it is imperative that the review is prompt and complete. In almost all cases, the review requires personal meetings, either individually or in small groups, to thoroughly review the incident and recommend corrective actions. [Pg.1079]

Often, differences in test measurements and samples configurations make comparisons difficult. The ASTM has a standard that defines the methods for stabilizing materials measurement, thus allowing relative... [Pg.386]

The Phase Boundaries. Our interest in the phase diagram is solely to define the method by which the calculation of the partial pressures should be done. Because (1) there are only small... [Pg.133]

The phase diagram that we shall use to define the method of calculation is given in Figure 2. The regions are defined by ... [Pg.134]

Appendix F defines the method used by the piping designer to determine allowable piping loads. [Pg.23]

Define the method equivalence criteria or acceptance criteria. [Pg.10]

Of course, this value is difficult to obtain experimentally because of the band path width limitation of the measurement apparatus. The IEC 62391 standard defines the method used to measure the series resistance. The self-discharge due either to the leakage current or to the charge redistribution adds a contribution to the voltage drop corresponding to Rp, the parallel resistance in the model. [Pg.437]

When implementing a metrics system, it is important to ensure the process safety data is reviewed for accuracy. Inaccurate data can lead to poor decisions and focus improper priority to issues. Worse, inaccurate data may focus attention away from serious performance deficiencies. The metrics system designer needs to define the methods that will be used to validate data entered into the metrics system. There are several techniques for validating data many of the techniques have been developed through quality-based efforts and auditing methods. The following is not a detailed how to for developing a validation method, but rather introduces topics for further research. [Pg.88]

To the pharmaceutical world, the meaning of analytical methods validation is the process to confirm that a method does what it purports to do, that is, to document through laboratory studies that the measurement procedure can reliably assess the identity, strength, and/or quality of a bulk drug substance, excipient, or finished pharmaceutical product. To provide consistent, worldwide regulatory expectations, previously unavailable, the International Conference on Harmonization has defined the methods validation... [Pg.92]

Medicinal product expertise is carried out according the Order 90-1401 dated 3 September 1990 defining the methods of medical and scientific investigation on medicinal products for human use (Kallel and Bouzouita 1999). [Pg.744]

With the term classical we defined the method (2)—(3) withconstant coefficients. [Pg.174]

The properties of the components will define the methods and conditions to be used, but in all cases, the only target is to guide the components into a self-assembly process which leads to periodical 3-D lattice of the components. Many... [Pg.332]

The purpose of this protocol is to define the method performance characteristics to be observed, the design and execution of the validation experiments, the data analysis, and the acceptance criteria for the validation of SOP 123 for use on Product W. [Pg.9]

Chapter 3 showed how SQL could be used to write a function to convert pressure data values expressed in atmospheres to kilopascals. Other functions were used in check constraints on a column containing CAS numbers. This chapter will show how new data types can be defined. This will require functions to define the method for input parsing and the method to output data values. There will also be functions to define operations on the new data types, enabling searches to be integrated easily with standard SQL syntax. [Pg.109]

At the company level, an organization and pre-established procedures must exist which define the methods by which complaints are to be examined, medicines recalled and returns examined. [Pg.387]

Technological regimen is the set of roles defining the method of production and the extent of inspection for a standard batch size in the interest of assuring the required standard quality and production management... [Pg.579]

For predicting the liquid viscosity of pure hydrocarbon mixtures at high temperatures, the method of Letsou and StieP is available. Error analyses with only a small amount of data shows errore averaging 34 percent in the reduced temperature range of 0.76 to 0.98. Equation (2-121) defines the method with inputs of Eqs. (2-122) and (2-123). [Pg.415]

In order to define the method and the notation of this paper, we shall present in Sec. 2 some theoretical aspects of the rotationless nonadiabatic formalism, of the conical intersections, and of the diabatic representation. The theory is then applied to the X2Ai/a2B2 conical intersection of NO2 in Sec. 3... [Pg.129]

It is necessary to first understand what we should expect to achieve from method validation. There are three basic considerations (1) the validation should define the method scope, which includes the analyte/matrix combinations to which the method can be applied and the concentration range within which reliable results have been demonstrated ... [Pg.274]

Rare earths can be separated from each other on ion-exchange columns, as illustrated in Pig. 3.2. Once separation conditions have been defined, the method can be simplified for purifying one radionuclide such as " Pm from interfering rare earth radionuclides. [Pg.109]

Reference 2 and a companion publication (11) defined the method and capabilities for mercury porosimetry. By 1949, Drake had increased the capacity of his equipment to 60,000 psi so that he was able to penetrate mercury into pores down to 18A in radius (12). [Pg.453]
