Data transmission

Searching for chemical structures requires a specific graphical component of the software, as a Tektronix emulation is necessary. In contrast to the majority of graphic programs which are based on vector graphics, chemical structures are recorded as a dot matrix. [Pg.125]

The PC must have a serial port - RS232-C or V.24 - which is connected to a modem to transmit data through the public telephone network. Digital bits are converted by the modem to analog signals and reverse. The public telephone net is used up to the next node - PAD of a public data transmission net. There, the data are bundled into packages and addressed. In addition to this there are further possibilities for transmitting data  [Pg.125]

Data transmission rate per foot is a function of both pulse frequency and rate of penetration. Sensors acquire and transmit data samples at fixed time intervals and therefore the sampling per foot is a function of rate of penetration. Current tools allow a real time sampling and transmission rate similar to wireline tools as long as the penetration rate does not exceed about 100 ft/h. If drilling progresses faster or if there are significant variations in penetration rate, resampling by depth as opposed to time intervals may be required. [Pg.135]

The conversion factors are presented for ready adaptation to computer readout and electronic data transmission. The factors are written as a number equal to or greater than one and less than 10, with six or fewer decimal places. The number is followed by E (for exponent), a plus or minus symbol, and two digits which indicate the power of 10 by which the number must be multiphed to obtain the correct value. Eor example ... [Pg.311]

There can be dedicated channels lor data transmission and voice communication. The data channel can also be superimposed over a voice on the same channel. [Pg.737]

A problem with the early MWD mud pulse systems was the very slow rate of data transmission. Several minutes were needed to transmit one set of directional data. Anadrill working with a Mobil patent [100] developed in the early 1980s a continuous wave system with a much faster data rate. It became possible to transmit many more drilling data, and also to transmit logging data making LWD possible. Today, as many as 16 parameters can be transmitted in 16 s. The dream of the early pioneers has been more than fulfilled since azimuth, inclination, tool face, downhole weight-on-bit, downhole torque, shocks, caliper, resistivity, gamma ray, neutron, density, Pe, sonic and more can be transmitted in realtime to the rig floor and the main office. [Pg.901]

The manufacturers database, Campus, provides use that is free of charge and no charges for data transmission. The actual value of the table of basic values described in Campus lies in its effect on the standardization and streamlining of testing. In the long term, the nonparticipants in the material market will not be able to remain outside this development. [Pg.414]

The dielectric and the conductors are selected to maximize data transmission speed while miiumizing signal loss. In addition, dissipating heat generated by the microcircuits is rapidly becoming an important consideration. If too much heat builds up in the microelectronic device. [Pg.60]

Temperatures at the two SH positions are nearly identical (difference less than 2 K). During data transmission between the rover and the Earth (or the relay satellite in Mars orbit) the instrument is switched off resulting in immediate small but noticeable temperature changes (see figure above)... The importation of data from one electronic data system to another is improving. Some systems import weather data and sample chains of custody, such as shipping conditions, sample handling, etc., into the field raw data package. This allows for simplified reporting and tabulation. Data transmission over the Internet is improving and is already far superior to regular mail and even next-day delivery services. [Pg.1036]

Each of these sectors use their own specific products and favorite bus systems. Diversity in data transmission rates and different power requirements makes it unlikely that one standard bus system will develop. Products with interfaces for different bus-systems are also available, but production costs are too high for small companies. In recent years the border between the traditional sectors has become more and more flexible and transparent. Standards in bus systems like EIB and LON have been defined and specified. [Pg.231]

The fundamental elements of deterministic models involve a combination of chemical and meteorologic input, preprocessing with data transmission, logic that describes atmospheric processes, and concentration-field output tables or displays. In addition to deterministic models, there are statistical schemes that relate precursors (or emission) to photo-chemical-oxidant concentrations. Models may be classified according to time and space scales, depending on the purposes for which th are designed. [Pg.678]

The third stage is data transmission during which the microcomputer transmits the entire data set for the sample to the minicomputer. The data is stored on disk until the operator initiates the fourth stage, data reduction. If multiple samples and injections have been programmed, the minicomputer sends to the microcomputer the information in the sample definition file for the next sample, and operation continues without further operator intervention. [Pg.62]

The second way in which the databases may be used is to identify all patients on a particular drug or with a particular clinical condition and then to follow them up over a defined period to determine what clinical events subsequently occur. For all practical purposes this method is a cohort study conducted through a computerised database, using screens and electronic data transmission rather than paper. [Pg.430]

This paper discusses the latest advances in manufacturing Community Antenna Television (CATV) cables via the gas injection process. Developments in polymer technology are discussed which have led to the production, by gas injection, of highly expanded, ultra low dielectric loss PE cable insulation for CATV and data transmission 3 refs. [Pg.105]

Clinical pharmacology plays no less significant a role in primary health care. That includes emphasis on essential drugs, safe and rational use of essential medicines including their side effects and outcomes, drug data transmission and analysis, and training with emphasis on prevalent diseases. Interactions between orthodox and traditional (complementary) medicines are carefully considered. Cost-benefit analysis is made possible. [Pg.59]
