Communication voice

The telephone is still one of the primary means of communication for clinical trial personnel. The telephone is used for both voice and digital communications. Voice communication is the normal person-to-person telephone call. Data communication with the telephone is the transmission of digital data from one location to another. Various software packages have been developed for this purpose. Using a voice modem connected to a telephone, a user on a local computer can connect to another remote computer that has a modem connected to a telephone and download or upload data files. Local and remote users can also communicate with text messages. The local computer operator can even control the remote computer for trouble-shooting or system update.

With the aid of William Strunk and E.B. White in The Elements of Style and that of William Zinsser in On Writing Well, Rudolph Flesch in The ABC of Style, and D.L. Carson, whose comments appear in this book, I have tried to follow some principles of technical communication lately ignored in scientific texts use the first person, put yourself in the reader s place, and, the best for last, use the active voice and a personal subject. 

Two-way radios allow a user to contact another user or group of users instantly on the same frequency, and to transmit voice or data without the need for wires. Wireless radios broadcast these voice or data communications over the airwaves from the transmitter to the receiver. While this can be an advantage in that the signal emanates in all directions and does not need a direct physical connection to be received at the receiver, it can also make the communications vulnerable to being blocked, intercepted, or otherwise altered. However, security features are available to ensure that the communications are not tampered with. 

If we look at the content of the information which is transferred between interactants, we find that facial information is used for decoding tendencies of dominance and positive affect (Rosenthal and Depaulo, 1979). Ekman et al. (1980) gave information from seven different communicative channels only facial information, only bodily information, speech, filtered voice, transcribed speech content, and combinations of voice and speech, voice, body and speech. In this research none of the presented channels was dominating the others in the transfer of meaning.
