Data collection definitions

The TSE model of causation that accidents are primarily due to individually controllable unsafe acts is unlikely to be modified over time. This is because very little evidence on the background and conditions which led up to an accident will be collected. The data collection strategy is therefore likely to remain static, since the data collected wiU, by definition, not contradict the underlying assumptions. 

This is in contrast to many data collection systems, in which considerable efforts are expended in developing a "definitive" data collection philosophy. However, once the system is in place, there is little attempt to modify this on the basis of operational feedback. 

Problem solvers do not always understand the importance of data to analysis efforts and are therefore poor at the identification, collection and use of failure data. Crystal data and parameters of the data collection (at -173°, 50 < 20 < 450) are shown in Table I. While some prospective data collection is required for almost all pharmacoeconomic studies, the amount of data to be collected for the pharmacoeconomic evaluation is still the subject of much debate. There is no definitive means of addressing this issue at present. Phase II studies can be used to develop data that will help determine which resource consumption items are essential for the economic evaluation. Without this opportunity for prior data collection, however, we must rely upon expert opinion to suggest major resource consumption items that should be monitored within the study. Duplicate data collection strategies (prospective evaluation of resource consumption within the study s case report form with retrospective assessment of resource consumption from hospital bills) can be used to ensure that data collection strategies do not miss critical data elements. 

The operational definition of raw data for the laboratory, especially as they relate to the automated data collection systems used, must be documented by the laboratory and made known to employees.

A common vocabulary has not been established in the field of prescription drug abuse. At this point, we arrive at the definition of a concept that is very important for environmental chemical data collection projects. It is the concept of the action level, which is defined by the EPA (EPA, 2000a), as follows The action level (Ca) is the threshold value, which provides the criterion for choosing between alternative actions. 

Environmental data may be classified according to the level of associated total error as screening data and definitive data. These two data types are also different with respect to their intended use and QC elements. The selection of the type of data to collect depends on the project DQOs and is made in the planning phase. The realm of possible data uses and methods of data collection are the defining factors in the selection. 

Why The FDA is interested in having access to ECG waveform data collected during the course of definitive studies on drug effects on ventricular repolarization and annotated for interval measurements. The basis for this interest is described in detail in the concept paper The Clinical Evaluation of QT Interval Prolongation and Proarrhythmic Potential for Non-antiar-rhythmic Drugs, jointly authored by the U.S. and Canadian regulatory authorities and discussed at a joint FDA/DIA meeting in January 2003.
