Daily project meetings

Daily project meeting At this time, each team member updates progress and expresses problems to which the project team needs to react quickly. Elsa Reichmanis, Lucent Technologies I have had some direct experience with long-distance collaborations. In one collaboration we had a joint R D program with a company located in Switzerland, and in another we collaborated with a company located on the East Coast, only a few hours away from our location. In both cases the initial few meetings were face to face, which helped with the social aspects of the project. Because we had the chance to get to know each other, it was much easier to pick up the phone and talk to the relevant researchers in either organization to get information and understand what was going on. Daily e-mail communication helped us stay informed of progress. [Pg.107]

The job of an inspector is to record field operations in sufficient detail so that a judgment can be made as to whether the project specs are being followed or violated. Normally, this will require the keeping of daily written records, often on work sheets specifically tailored to the project. The responsibility of the inspector may overlap that of the supervisor to the extent that he/she may be required to make decisions as to whether procedures and equipment meet the specifications. The extent of the responsibility of an inspector should be detailed to the satisfactory agreement of both the owner and the contractor prior to the start of field work. A checklist of areas for inspector activity follows. [Pg.464]

Furthermore, there will often be some existing systems in place that do not support the scope of replacing paper used in daily operations. Paperless operations have in the past been used as a sales promotion feature for specific products that purport to enable paperless operation.
