Selection of Cutting Tools Machining is realized by controller motion of cutting tools in relation to the workpiece. Appropriate selection of cutting tools is therefore a major part of process planning. The tools are chosen according to the attributes of the workpiece and product features as well as the machine tools and operations that have been selected to produce them. 

One important possibility to examine, analyze, and improve machining processes is the modeling and simulation. Using this technique the performance of cutting processes and characteristics of manufactured components can be predicted and planned in order to optimize productivity, quality, and cost (Tapoglou and Antoniadis 2012 van Luttervelt et al. 1998).

Rough-cut capacity planning (RCCP) RCCP process considers only the critical work centres (bottlenecks, highly utilized resources, etc.) and attempts to balance longer-term workloads and demand at high level. 

To ensure that there is enough capacity and resources available to achieve the consensus forecast it is necessary to produce a rough cut capacity plan - otherwise known as a resource plan. Essentially the logic behind the rough cut capacity plan is to look at the aggregate product family forecast for the planning period and to translate that into the capacity and resources needed, e g. how much machine time, how much time in an assembly process, how much transport capacity and so on.
