Assembly and Operation

Another novel type of electrochemical fluorination unit, incorporation a metal electrolyser lined with teflon, capable of both bipolar and monopolar function is claimed in a Russian patent [139] to have advantages in simplicity of assembly and operation. [Pg.228]

The apparatus is modified from that of Klerx et al. (1) and is represented diagrammatically in Fig. 1. High cell densities can be maintained by constant perfusion of medium through the hollow fibers of dialysis membrane (molecular weight cutoff usually 10,000) with minimal dilution of the MAb. The assembled apparatus, which can be moved readily around the laboratory on a small trolley, is designed for use m a controlled 37°C warm room, but can also be set up in an incubator that has the appropriate access ports. The equipment is inexpensive, and is simple to assemble and operate. [Pg.39]

The authors express appreciation to the project team, Sal Carfagno, Samuel Moore, and the technicians for vigorous effort in assembly and operation of the pilot plant at Syracuse. C. M. Ashley conceived the original idea of the process and assisted generously by consultation. [Pg.107]

The reactor is sketched in Figure 8 where three concentric annular spaces with the six catalytic walls are shovm. The reactor is fed through the outer annular space (maximum PCE concentration) where the radiation field has ifs minimum value. Exit of reactants and products occurs from the inner annular space. All details of the reactor assembly and operating conditions are described in Table 2. For more details the reader can resort to references (Imoberdorf ef al., 2006, 2007). [Pg.243]

An adequate mechanical strength and dimensional stability to ensure reliability in both assembly and operation. [Pg.338]

After a first series of encouraging tests with short-stacks manufactured according to the new F-design, a number of larger stacks with cells 20 X 20 cm were manufactured, assembled and operated. Fig. 9 shows the current-voltage and current-power characteristics of a 10 cell F-design stack operated both on hydrogen and (simulated partially pre-reformed) methane. [Pg.133]

The apparatus illustrated schematically in Fig. B8 is normally constructed of Pyrex glassware using standard size cone and socket joints. Experience of laboratory glass blowing and handling is required to assemble and operate the equipment. [Pg.120]

After mobility separation, ions are transferred to a third traveling wave cell similar to the first cell of the triwave assembly and operating as an ion transfer lens or as a CID cell. Finally, the ions are transferred into a high-resolution TOF-MS. Thus, many types of analyses can be performed with this single instrument. It can operate simply as an IMS-TOF or a Q-TOF, but it can also operate as a Q-IMS-TOF or, in its most powerful mode, as a Q-IMS-CID-TOF. [Pg.198]

Verification of a system assembled and operated on orbit requires unique testing technologies and places a premium on advanced simulation and analysis... [Pg.8]

It is said that no fatal problems are foreseen in developing each components of the Power Conversion Module such as turbo-machinary, magnetic bearings, high performance recuperator, and etc. However, for the complex system like this, it is absolutely necessary to understand the characteristics of the entire system by assembling and operating them prior to deployment as a nuclear plant system. [Pg.127]

Liquid-junction interface. In this type of interface, a stainless-steel tee is used to introduce the makeup liquid (Figure 5.13c) [81,82]. The cathode end of the CE capillary and the ESI needle are introduced from opposite ends of the tee, with a narrow gap (10 to 25 p,m) between the two terminals. The electrical contact between the CE capillary and the ESI needle is established through the makeup liquid that surrounds the junction of the two capillaries. The liquid-junction interface is easy to assemble and operate. The additional hquid flow often degrades the detection sensitivity. CE separation is also compromised at the liquid junction. [Pg.179]

Table 6-11 illustrates the assembly and operating modes of selected centrifugal extractors and gives some geometrical and operational data. [Pg.456]

In order for a high priced superinsulation product to become competitive with conventional ones, the value of the saved space and other beneficial factors must compensate significantly for the added cost of the material. In this context, the key question to be addressed is how can one put a dollar value on space savings Depending on the type of application, a reduction in space, weight, or volume affects overall assembly and operation... [Pg.625]

Using a low-temperature scanning tunneling microscope, chemists at Tufts University successfully assembled and operated an electric motor consisting of a single molecule. [Pg.1644]

As already noted, this stems from the fact that the process is almost always developed from a batch-operated beaker or flask. However, it is worth observing that an output of 500 tonnes/year of active substance corresponds to a continuous process flow rate of around only 70ml/sec. This allows various items of intensified equipment to be assembled and operated continuously, literally on a desktop , to meet the production demand. The decision to switch from batch to continuous processing immediately confers a useful intensification benefit because the peak batch process loads (e.g. heat output, liquid removal, etc.) are distributed in time, so equipment size can be reduced. Thus, with a new process, the laboratory scale becomes the full scale when allowed to run continuously and the scale-up delays described earlier are largely avoided. This strategy is generating considerable industrial interest as the commercial pressure to bring new molecules to market rapidly continues to increase. [Pg.110]

After the proper material has been selected, equipment must be properly assembled and operated to ensure reasonably long service life. Some points to consider to avoid mechanical failures are ... [Pg.91]

Assembling and design of nanostructures for micro- and nano-fluidics systems has led to a wide range of microchemical applications. Material properties are crucial in the fabrication, assembly, and operation of micro- and... [Pg.1435]
